Don't want to speak too soon, but when I've clicked a page today it's actually loaded straight away.

    Hopefully they've sorted it.

*The website I mentioned restricts not to one free test/day but one free test/month. Today's test was done with https://tools.pingdom.com which also has limits.
Someone should point out to the Footymad owners that the hamster needs feeding daily, and extra at the weekends.

I would say that they have moved hosts. Probably to save money. Sites need 'PHP workers' via the hosts to run and process requests. which are basically minions that process requests on the site. I would say there are less of these on the new host hence the lag. Also probably on what is known in the game as a "shared rack" i.e. the site is sharing resources with hundreds of other sites. Which reduces the available resources. I had a look on developer tools and the site fires a ton of errors as well. It's built on pretty old tec stack. I do think it's only a matter of time before it bites the dust. Thus when there is more people on the worse it gets. It's the middle of the night in the UK but still slow now hence the shared resources comment I made. Probably nothing that can be done about it. I'd probably be happy to look into building a new one and hosting it if people want but isn't there another forum Pride of Nottingham or summit. I could ban laddo then lol.

Having a better alternative would be a real treat. Pride of Nottingham is good, but is ultra friendly. I know people argue too much on there, but by the same token, it’s the opposite on PoN. As a message board, it needs alternate views to keep it thriving.
Personally, I’d say crack on for a new site, but I have 0 skills in message board hosting or web creation so easy for me to say someone else crack on!

I have never built any kind of a forum before. I own and run a large full stack ecommerce store and I have knocked a few things up for mates over the years. If people want me to then I would invest time in it. But I would never be the monitor admin person.

Somewhere like here needs a good few mods to be honest. Too much for one person to handle. Not the amount of posts, but more ensuring the bickering is stopped when it goes too far. I’d say 4 would be a decent number for a site such as this with the traffic it gets.
I don’t get on as often as I’d like, but as part of a team of mods, would be happy to help. On my own…no chance.
