Hi
I find that when using the laptop keys to play notes when I add strings or brass instruments for example. On mine it's X and Z to change octave which can be a bit of a pain and another reason to get myself a MIDI keyboard! But I don't want to play and record individual drum sounds like bass or snare for example, but rather the drum patterns that are available. Sorry, I said "drum rack" when I meant "drum hits"
In the top left menu, in the left column under "categories" I have sounds, drums, instruments, audio effects, MIDI effects, plug ins, clips, samples, groove and templates. Beneath that I have a list under "places".
If I select drums under the category heading it brings up a list in the right hand column under "drum hits" which includes "drum rack" and then a list of kits e.g. "505 Core kit". If I select one of these kits and press the button below which turns blue I can hear a sample of this play with RAW next to it. What I'd like to know is can I record this pattern onto a MIDI track so that I can then use it as a backing drum pattern to play and record over in the project using my other available midi and audio tracks and how do I do that?
When I click on, for example, "505 Core kit" this now appears as the heading of the MIDI track column I've selected and at the bottom of the screen I now get the controls for that kit (says Rand and Map). I'm probably being really thick but how do I now play this pattern and record it onto the MIDI track? I can't see "impulse" anywhere.
Sorry-told you I was c rap at this! -yes, under "instruments" I have drum rack, impulse, instruments rack and simpler as options.
Hi Boingy
Really sorry but I'm on shift tonight so really need to get some kip now. If you can think of any solutions or further suggestions though I'd be really grateful and I'll play around with it again tomorrow. In the meantime very many thanks for spending your time looking into it for me 👍
If you click on impulse you will have blank spots you can fill with sample sounds. My midi controller has stopped working so I can’t check much out till I get it back on board.
I have never tried the home studio/self recording stuff, I just play. I receive playlists each week from the two groups that I play with so it’s practise then play (guitar, bass or ukulele). I also try to fit in time to play the music that I really like for myself; I almost forgot, there’s all the other things in life to do as well!
