Ha ha he did exactly the same to me. I called him Mr Trueman and was polite but he was well known for not signing many autographs. In fact half the Yorkshire team were like it (not swearing though). Hampshire, Padgett, Binks and Close were difficult autographs to get.

I had the same with Boycott. He got me to carry his bags up to the changing room and still wouldn't give me an autograph. Told me if I did the same again he would. Next time I saw him he picked me out from the crowd, I carried his bags and he signed for me. Said he had remembered me and the promise he made.
