    Over rated, no .
There's some pieces of work coming out the woodwork on here, very distasteful, I wish Luke all the best 👍

Pure comedy gold. Can't be Notts fans who have lived the last 10 years. Just unbelievable, near Trumpian.

You can wish him the best and also accept he had faults that were masked during a freak season

    You forgot lots of points.

    It's points that matter.

I have considered this. I look at what Ardley and Burchnall achieved and then I wonder how they would have got on last season. I then come to the conclusion that Luke Williams was not over rated.

I wonder how he would have faired if he had the same team that IB had... Would he have still got us promoted.

At this stage, the suggestion that LW was overrated resembles a sack full of copes.

Had this forum existed summer 1983 people would have said Howard Wilkinson was overrated, that Jimmy Sirrel was the real reason we got promoted and stayed up in the top flight and that any "team manager" would look good under him....... Enter Larry Lloyd.

Same when Sam left, people would have been falling over themselves to point out we only stayed up due to the run we went on after Gary Brazil joined as his assistant.

MAD existed when Short replaced Cotterill, I can't remember what was said about that appointment but I suspect it went something along the lines of "Shorty knows the club better than Cotterill".

I very much fear yet another repeat, especially when factoring in what was served up prior to LW when we were getting further and further away from promotion, falling at an earlier play off hurdle each time. Large sections of the fanbase now somehow manage to flip that period upside down in their minds as part of some grand plan that included Mo Ross, being booed against the worst NL team of all time (Dover Athletic) and Ardley whining that his players weren't listening to him and what else could he do.

    Bleak times.

This season. You can nit-pick all the negatives you want, they are easy to find in isolation.

If you look at the big picture however, Luke Williams was superb.

The recruitment team have seemingly always come good when replacing lost gems.
Wootton and Roberts both went up the pyramid. You're presuming that Langstaff and Scott just had to turn up to be better. Same with Crowley, he wasn't pulling any trees up the last few years and has scored 10 this season and 13 in his whole previous career.
It doesn't just happen, Williams added value to our players.
