After that - as frustrating as hell !!!

I don’t know what’s missing from this team - but something is - I think it could be midfield.

Our link up play in midfield is poor.
Russell well off the pace and looking rusty.
He also looks like he’s put weight on.
Kane his usual ponderous self - momentum of the play dropping 2 notches every time he receives the ball.
He’s often brushed off the ball.
But occasionally he tries to make a good pass.
Philips is his usual self - The Invisible Man.

Other than that we look good.
    Defence looks better organised.
Shepherd again showing we have a player here.
Styles playing his best game of the season - although he has made some silly mistakes.

Again McAtee and Cole working hard and running their blood to watter.

    Fingers crossed 2nd Half.
Because although Barnsley have dominated - we have made some bad mistakes allowing Bristol to have some really easy chances to score
    Lol !!!

    2nd Half
A win is a win - but yet another poor poor performance.
    Unconvincing Barnsley.

Barnsley reduced to clearing the ball up field for the last 20 minutes or so.
Why the hell Chris Martin was left one on one with Williams then God only knows.
The sooner Tall Pines gets into the team the better.

Bristol deserved at least a draw.
A bit more confidence and composure I think they could have won it.

    A very unconvincing lucky win.
Slopping unsuccessful passing in defensive areas made Rovers look better.
    I ask Composure where it.
Hopeful punts out from the back going nowhere except to the opposition.

It's hard to believe that if we win the games in hand over Pompey we will be a point behind them!!
Shows how bad this league truly is.
If we strengthen that defence and keep Roberts we could actually win this league.
Pompey on a terrible run lost 3-0 at home to Orient today, apparently half their crowd left at half time...PMSL

Very fortunate to get the three points , well constructed and taken goal by O'Keefe was the only real highlight of that second half .

Defensive frailties all too familiar and we were extremely lucky not to be punished , Roberts once again coming to our rescue on a number of occasions plus some woeful Rovers finishing .

The goal we did give away was diabolical , 8th or 9th tier defending to be honest .

Much rides on new recruit Pines shoulders to shore up as poor a defence as I've seen from ourselves at this level not helped by the missing Luca I have to admit .

Herbie Kane our best player today by a country mile , at the heart of the good things we did produce .

Hard work today but just about deserved the points , in the first half we got in some great positions but our crossing and final ball were poor , the first time we got a decent cross in we scored & really we should have been home and dry by half time , the only chance they had fell to a very poor Thomas who did his usual , as soon as he gets into the box he is like a rabbit in the headlights & duly fluffed his lines. The second half was predictable , with a much improved Rovers and once they scored I thought they would go and win it , their goal was very predictable , a decent cross always has our back three struggling & we really are weak at the back . After they scored we rallied and got ourselves back in front with a well taken goal & to my surprise we were comfortable and saw the game out well . I thought McCatee & kane were our better players with a special mention for Cole who notched his 15th of the season, fingers crossed we hang on to him because if we are serious about making the play offs then we have to keep him , his goals are priceless .

Hard work indeed, despite our positive start, we nearly threw it away again.
We can't and don't keep clean sheets, so it's always demanding extra from our goalscorers.
But I would have been happy with this result before kick off. And with a hopefully winnable game in hand midweek, we certainly are still thinking about the top two. 🤗

Good win today although I didn't see the game. 9 unbeaten now which is good going by any standards. Unfortunately the top 2 is out of reach unless the right defenders are brought in this month along with another striker.

An opportunity to make a real statement regarding top two as next three away games are at Stevenage, Oxford and Bolton.
