And it's very hard to spot anything in my post he was responding to strangely enough - quite unlike him!

    Aye...

Just passing the time of day LOL...

What IS the purposes of academies?

    Fair question.

Why do all PL clubs have Cat1, Others Cat2 and lower down Cat3 or none at all..

I think it was to improve kids talent and get the international team better or summat..

Go and see the reaction to efforts in the Euro's now with even the Manager saying the players are not fit enough...Maybe not surprising after a long season...So have the academies improved the England teams performance? Are the PL teams full of academy graduates? You all have opinions on that and this is a football forum and so what are the answers? Do nothing and the PL/FA continue with a failed project and its cost them tens of millions to see? Has a Cat2 academy improved our team's performance? You again have an opinion. I think not myself. Kids will come to RH whatever the academy category imo. Dario just had one assistant and was based in Shavington. No academy, no cost..

Kids are just going to them as the schools shut their playing fields and school teams..

I could suggest the FA fund the whole cost of all academies and then allow clubs to bid for graduates wih the FA getting half the fee and the selling club the rest...Seems a better and fairer way to me...I would also ban loan players as that could be seen as cheating with the wealthy clubs getting the better loan players..

Football fixtures coming on Wednesday, positives? We play Vale again...

I don't think academies exist only in England.

I do agree that closing school playing fields has been a scandal.

I also think there's something in the FA controlling/financing academies.
There's also the speedway and American football system of balancing teams out with a centralised system of player distribution.

As an aside, I see Arthur Okonkwo has signed for Wrexham. Has he no ambition?

Brought back good memories. I think my crowning glory re the school playing fields was the day after myself and my still remembered lovely girlfriend had a good kissing session in the long grass. At assembly the Headmaster asked the 2 culprits to stand up so that the whole school could see the guilty pair. Think he was a bit surprised when we both stood up. That afternoon large mowers cut all the long grass from each pitch. It was a high discipline school and at that time boy/girl relationships were banned. Once again I got the cane but it was worth it.
As my form master said later that day, you have an excellent choice in girls.
Apo;ogies for a non football post. Hope no posters are offended.

O/S just now: Crewe Alexandra are delighted to announce the loan signing of Bristol City defender Jamie Knight-Lebel.

The highly-rated centre-half has agreed a 12-month stay at Mornflake Stadium.

Knight-Lebel, a Canada Under-20 international, who signed a new three-year deal at Ashton Gate earlier this year, stands at 6ft 3ins tall.

The 19-year-old, who has made appearances in the Championship and FA Cup for the Robins, is a right-footer who can also operate at full-back.

If he's anywhere near the ability of Turns, he should be okay. Only a year older than Robinson. "Can also play full-back", so now have a possible 3 RBs.
Whatever number of incoming we have we MUST get a creative, eye-for-a-through-ball midfielder and another striker.
I'd also like an orthodox winger on the left side.
I've been thinking about Rio and wondering if there are negotiations going on over a fee.

Also possible of course - in no-one's interest to go to arbitration.
