My opinion of Southgate is that whilst he's created a better environment within the England set up and created a better culture he was always tactically suspect and way too timid for my liking .

It seems to me that the better culture thing has now run it's course and his lack of tactical ability and timid mindset has now started to create a poor camp for the England players who look confused , bemused and I dare say have lost faith in Southgate .

This looks the least together squad of the tournaments that Southgate has managed England .

That performance against Denmark and the second half against Serbia was every bit as bad as the Taylor , Hodgson and Capello era's .

It takes an extraordinary poor coach to reduce Bellingham , Foden , Saka and Kane in to a powder puff attack given their ability .

One tournament too many for Southgate in my opinion , well past his sell by date .

I'm not much bothered whether the England manager is English or not looking ahead just as long as they are the best person available .

I'm always impressed with Thomas Frank and I think he'd be a good fit with his experience of English football .
Thomas Frank is a good call there Animal.

It must be difficult, when you consider the players we have who play for Guardiola, Arteta etc., and then have to modify their game to play in the style, tactics and mindset that Southgate appears to want. They must be pulling their hair out sometimes.

A good coach gets the best out of the sum of parts he's got and nobody can say with any real credibility that Southgate has done that .

What's more concerning is the lack of organisation going in to this tournament , something that you'd expect Southgate would be on top off despite his lack of tactical ability .

I understand Shaw is unlikely to be fit for the whole tournament so why has he travelled ?

Why are we experimenting with Arnold in central midfield at tournament level ?

Why is Foden played in a role he doesn't occupy for Manchester City ?

Why are we playing a left back who can't use his left foot and has to check inside on to his right and subsequently slows down the attack ?

Criminal not to have taken Rashford and Grealish in my opinion , Eze and Bowen are better !!! , really ??

This tournament has the potential to be an ultimate disaster given what we've witnessed so far and the options Southgate has chosen to go with which leaves him shoe-horning players in to roles they are struggling with .

I take the point we will progress through to the knock out stages but I feel the disaster will come if we play one of the unfancied nations in the next stage on a free hit with nothing to lose whilst playing as badly as we've done so far .

I can honestly see another Iceland as at Euro 2016 coming up with the confidence gone , players feeling the pressure and a manager who simply cannot fix it in a tournament environment .

Southgate will only be remembered for this catastrophe and he'll deserve it .

This brings up the question of if it's a foreigner to replace Gareth... then who ?.
I like Tommy Franke (the Brentford boss), he comes across well, etc.
But then again so does Gareth, so we'll need a bit more than that, won't we!.
