I've just remembered how angry I was after Salford. Jermaine Jena's comments were irritating to say the least. He's since showed a capacity to put his foot in it.

Swindon are meant to be a fairly biggish club (certainly for League 2) but in recent years they've lost managers to Mansfield, Crawley and now have appointed a bloke who got Grimsby relegated.

My impression is he's only still around so he can manage 11 more games to reach the 1,000 mark.

    That's his stated ambition.

Holloway was the furious Bristol Rovers manager over the "throw of god" incident back in 2000, but I do like the man and there was a time when I wouldn't have minded seeing him appointed here. It's probably fair to say though that he's way past his use by date and after his Grimsby experience I'm really surprised Swindon have made this move.
I'd like to say that I hope it works out for him, but seeing how their fans taunted us over our relegation to the NL at their ground it would be sweet karma if they endured the same fate. They probably will do enough to pull away before the business end of the season however.

I'm with you on this regarding Holloway and Karma. I remember too well how some of their fans were gloating at our misfortune. Perhaps that's why they've gone down the experience route with the appointment of Holloway and with the January transfer window in a couple of months opening there is plenty of time for him to steer them away from danger.

As ourselves and Oldham found out just because a club has played at the highest level it doesn't make it immune to dropping out of the football league.

Guess it’s who you happened to notice and/or meet that day.
I came out of the ground having been emboldened by the fans as we faced down our fate with a vocal defiance I felt was more aimed at each other than the players or manager who had collectively failed us.
However, a Swindon fan of a more mature vintage stopped us as we left the ground, said how sorry he was to see us relegated, and hoped we’d bounce straight back.
Totally did me in. I just about squeaked a thanks before walking off from him and my mates to have a bloody good sob. Didn’t thank him for it at the time, but his comments were well meant and came from the heart.
I like Holloway as a bloke, albeit a bit of an oddball, but feel this is a poor appointment for them in the modern game, and that old boy at the very least deserves better.

After the awful job Holloway did at Grimsby basically relegating them and leaving a sinking ship I thought he was done for and he hasn't really achieved anything since he got Blackpool to the Prem a long time ago. This smacks of Swindon not wanting to pay much money and getting a localish manager who looks like a good pick up but in reality is getting paid peanuts and doing it for his swan song. I think it will go very badly indeed but as long as we are at the business end of the table frankly who cares!

He also got Palace promoted to the PL not long after he left Blackpool. But all a long time ago.

Erik ten Hag sacked by Man U.

That VAR penalty decision that went against them yesterday was outrageous, one of the worst I've ever seen. He was probably going to get sacked sooner rather than later, but that decision must have sealed his fate.
