We miss Yokuslu for similar reasons. He allowed Mowatt space further up the pitch and picked up the loose balls which afforded QPR, Stoke and Plymouth the chances they largely didn't take. It's highly unlikely Boro score their goal with those two in situ either.

Yokuslu had to go really. Big wages and in decline but still a class act we haven't replaced. Diakite really needs to get up to speed. Kipre however was a big loss for how Carlos likes the game played.

Read somewhere that Bartley and Ajayi had given the ball away something like 24 times between them against Millwall on Saturday. Not good enough and part of the reason we struggled to initiate moves from the back, and that's before we touch on how slow they are to release Furlong in particular.

Agree with you 68 completely. I did say - have we improved from last season? We have not played any great teams and Grant and Maja have been excellent so masked the issue.

It’s only in these three games the realisation hits - yes we do miss Kipre and Okay. Your summing up of both players is bang on!

This is no slight on Furlong because he’s obviously been told to do so, after Palmer passes it to Bartley who then swaps passes with Ajayi a couple of times it’s passed to Furlong who immediately turns back and passes back to the centre halves, this passage of play is the one that really irritates me, it stops the game and its all totally pointless, the number of times players make runs and aren’t seen is frustrating
This so called possession football is total crap, the 78-79 side would murder the current side

    Agreed Danny.

Often said that Kipré was player of the season last year, maybe together with Palmer and Fellows. A big loss, he could pass short and long, and with precision. The peach of a pass to put Wallace free vs Leicester last season springs to mind (if I remember correctly), and, yes Al, Wallace scored. The other day Wallace could have been free on goal twice, but, two horribly over-hit passes ruined that (Maja and Swift)…

Probably correct to let Yokuṣlu go, but he was the real star of the show all in all, fading though. Always seemed to have all the time in the world, 1st half vs Ipswich was magnificent (then Bartley got injured and he had to play CD 2nd half) - possibly the best single performance last season.

I share the frustration of this continual tactic Bomber buddy.
Too many times Heggem has positioned himself forward on the left wing - unmarked - providing a simple pass opportunity for Bartley. Constantly ignored by him, preferring to stop play completely. Outrageous.
Maybe Heggem replaces Bartley alongside AJ and Holgate appears as LB ?

Forgetting completely the great passes from Furlong that have cut through defences and got us results this season. Even including a throw in that put Fellows through. Great passes. Corberan wants them to be patient and wait for opportunities, if this means passing across the back until there is a gap to take advantage, so be it. Teams are setting up to make things difficult they’re not stupid. It won’t get easier that’s for sure.
