Enjoyable game, especially first half. They had more of the play and will be disappointed with the draw but didn't ever really carve us open. As I said after Gillingham, if these are pencilled in for promotion challengers then we will be up there too.
Ratings with 6 meaning an OK performance.
Bass (6.5) - channelling his inner Slocombe a bit recently but still making good saves
Macari (6.5) Tidy.
Platt (7) Rock solid. Breeds confidence. Love this guy.
Bedeau (7) See above.
Gordon (7) - the bright spark going forward in the first half. Mandeville had no answer to him and crosses were pretty good.
Abbott (6.5) - put a monster shift in as usual. Good cross for Jatta's goal and some very nice one touch stuff in tight areas with Crowley and others.
Palmer (6) - not yet back to his metronomic best.
Robertson (6) - plenty of good work but tendency to be a bit casual at times. Has lost us points before with bad decisions/lapses in concentration and needs to eliminate that from his game.
Crowley (6.5) - always invilved in the game but more hit and miss than usual. Some classy moments and some to forget. As Stall said, no end product today.
Austin (6.5) tidy.
Jatta (7) - if I were being hyper critical I would say he lost a near post header again for their second, and the corner came about because he switched off for a instant in the build up to give away the corner. But that is hyper critical because he's not a defender yet he gets through a lot of defensive work. Soaring header for his goal. Lots of running and made a nuisance of himself all game, couple of nearly moments where the ball just didn't quite run for him. His goals to games ratio demands more respect than he gets.
Sorry if I'm a broken record with this but:
Bracegirdle (4) commiserations to those who have audio commentary only - you have basically no idea what is happening on the pitch. Stubbornly refuses to finish a pointless anecdote once he's started it. Most of them are about boot colour or where he was driving to watch the cricket. Can basically only deal with one thing happening in every 30 second segment and he WILL finish describing the last thing even if something 10 times more interesting is happening on the pitch. An AI version of Charlie or Colin can't come soon enough.
