The only advantage to go to West Brom would be for more money....When's he being announced as the new Baggy's manager then?

    Agreed. Quite sad really.
Having read some of the comments about SM, I?d be embarrassed to celebrate if we were to get promoted.
Although they will just say we got promoted despite him!

Bit of an odd statement after he?s just recorded arguably our best three results on the bounce since we returned to the FL old chap.

I think praise can be given to LW for what he achieved but also reserved and granted to SM. Who knows how difficult it has been for him transitioning from a small, part time non-league club whilst also working full time?.to an EFL club with ambitions of promotion. We shouldn?t disregard or disrespect him for how far he has already come through sheer hard work.

We can dislike a manager without being hateful or rude towards him?.after all, we look stupid if they actually turn out to be a success.

I don't "know" that. I think Williams is currently better but 10x is a preposterous estimate and SM might become the better head coach with time.

I also honestly think if Williams had had the injury run we just stumbled through, in the promotion season we would never have got near promotion and half this board would have been piling into "Sack Williams" threads at the end of that season.

Remember when Williams started here most people were wondering what the hell the brothers were thinking with him, based on his (frankly lacklustre) prior record, me included, although I did adopt a "but it's the Brothers, let's give him the benefit of the doubt" approach.

With our current position I'm interested to see where SM can lead us by season's end, and calling for his sacking now or even three games ago was premature and never going to be something our current owners do. Unless of course they ran into a vastly better option somewhere, somehow.

I think after two managers in a row were poached by higher levels, and SM is clearly working out, we really do owe their judgement the benefit of the doubt at this point. I'm sure one day they'll appoint a dud manager if they remain owners of the club for long enough, but it sure hasn't happened yet.

Luke is being lambasted in some quarters for being disloyal on the basis of a rumour that WBA are interested???😂

we're 2nd in the league at New Years and on the back of 3 frankly brilliant wins (with a depleted and patched up first xi), Woody is either dumb as a box of spanners, or winding everyone up. I don't think he's that dumb.

When LW left he?d got 42 points from 26 games and SMs got 37 from 22.
That?s obviously conveniently forgetting the massive downturn in results when he first arrived but I think considering the injuries this season, especially concerning our best 2 players, the guys certainly not doing too bad.

interesting. So rn, on PPG this season, SM is statistically better than LW was at this level with Notts. Is that right UTM?

still don't think ppg stats tell the whole story though, as per SM last season vs this (and the previous discussion), otherwise we'd all making millions by betting on the ppg favourites.

Often the strongest characters are forged in the hottest fires, and SM has had loads to contend with since he came. I thought he looked lost in the post Salford presser, but I also thought he looked a bit steely after yesterday's game. I'm not too big to admit I may have judged him too harshly after the mini-run that seems to have culminated in the Salford game.

I don?t think anyone?s totally sure with the start to his Notts career and obviously his first big job.

I kind of understood last season where he tried to structurally make us more defensive but it backfired as we naturally scored less goals but still kept conceding daft goals.

I?ve never had a doubt the players aren?t playing for him though, he?s more or less had 100% effort from his players since he?s come in.
