A few observations from the comments thus far.

Clarke - yep agree - whoever is responsible for recruitment also needs to go.
    Flatman ?
    Sormaz ?
To start a season with no out and out strikers is diabolical.
IMO - that decision has played a big part in getting Clarke the sack.

Time after time we have dominated games this season and come away with either a draw or a loss because there was no one there to put the chances away.
This has undermined the confidence in the squad.
Sadly Clarke hasn?t been able to keep the players heads up - in other words he hasn?t been able to get the best out of the players.
But much of that IMO stems from poor recruitment.

Hourihane - agree with comments on here relating to Hourihane being a fans favourite etc.
    A few other observations:

    1) Why has Hourihane been promoted above other coaches at the club ?
Obviously the powers that be have seen something they like above the other coaches.

    2) Why has Hourihane chosen a coach from the under 21s to be his assistant and not other coaches at the club ?

    3) Although I have thrown doubt on Hourihane?s experience of coaching - there is a flip side to this.
Sormaz has again stated that the club needs to get back to its identity.
Clearly Collins and Clarke were unable to adapt and implement that style - as basically their past experience of playing different styles got in the way.
Conner comes with a clean slate.
Consequently Sormaz will be able to have a greater influence on moulding this HC in the way the club wants to play.
Which in theory could have huge positive outcomes.
We will have to wait and see.

But then again - we know that Sormaz and the two HCs previously employed at the club have worked closely together.
But we haven?t seen how that works in practice.
We do however witness the work he does in relation to the transfer market.
And if that is anything to go by then things could go badly wrong for Conner.

I said this would happen weeks and weeks ago, it wasn't rocket science or needing a crystal ball to see what was coming!
Hourihane was always going to get the gig to try to boost season ticket sales.
I would also suggest that the players wanted Hourihane in and in some part was the reason behind some of the poor performances, I will also say that advice given to DC during games from the coaches was to derail him so Hourihane got the job?
Let's be honest DC did himself no favours with comments, tactics and subs but he also wasn't backed sufficiently by the board.
Unfortunately I can see this going the same way as when Hendrie took the job? But when Hourihane came here as player/coach then hung up his boots quickly the writing was already on the wall as to his intentions!

My choice - and I know people are going to scoff at this - but my choice would be Danny Rohl.
If ever a HC fitted Barnsley then it would be Rohl.
    His style fits Barnsley perfectly.

If Rohl can get that bag of rubbish playing at S6 then he can definitely get our lot playing - as we still have more talented players here.

Supporters may dismiss this idea - as Wendy have a bigger fan base.
But our owner - is far wealthier than Looney Chansiri.
I reckon aiming for a team?s coach that?s doing an incredible job in the division above us isn?t ambitious enough. Pep?s stock must be slumping a bit right now. We should make a move.
