I think if we get 2 million we've probably done alright .
I agree Animal especially as he is just at the right age for a move but you always want to hold on to your better players and to be honest we have not had such a clever talented player as Dunn on our books for a long long time, his movement , workrate , vision and his ability to finish as well is quite unique at this level , make no bones about it he is a very very clever footballer , he is not one where you can pick up a like for like replacement , he is totally different to your bog standard division one player but he does deserve the rewards of stepping up to the championship and should he get a move his talent deserves then good luck to him , I just hope it is a move that benefits both club and player but I would be lying if I said I did not want him here in August because I certainly do.

I would imagine every BFC supporter would want him here next season and when that’s the case the rest is history.

To be honest Animal I think the owners should be looking for more than 2m. I'd also expect there's a sell on clause where Mansfield can claim a percentage. For me, the guy has been absolute quality this season and proven his abilities in the step up from LG2 to LG1 and he certainly wouldn't be out of place in the Championship with his ability imo. He's the crown jewell in terms of our saleable assets so I've absolutely no doubt that he'll leave this summer, especially with Parekh confirming back in February that we must sell this summer.

The replacement for DKD is my concern as always. Take his goals out of that team and we need a good replacement from a higher level than we normally recruit from. Freebies from the outer Mongolian 2nd division will simply not do.

It might be that Coventry bought Kitchen in the last few hours of the transfer window and were desperate to sign a centre back thus pushing the price up , what bids come in for Dunn are now on a wait and see basis and I have said this many times before that a player is only worth what a club is willing to pay so we will have to see how this pans out , personally to us he is currently priceless , we will have to see how this unfolds .

Coventry had a lot of money to spend that summer having sold Hamer and Gyorkes for a combined 30 million Jules .

They weren't haggling too much over a couple of million and paid over the odds for Kitching in my opinion .

It will depend which club wants DKD , if Southampton or Leicester want him for example we might get 4 million , if Preston want him it's likely to be half that .

We aren't in a financial position to play hard ball and we aren't in a good enough league position for players to accept staying here and getting on with it .

This is DKD move that could set him up for life , it's huge for the lad .

I'm very wary these days Pass from the Styles debacle , I'm not saying it's exactly the clubs fault but players will down tools if they don't get a move they think they deserve .

It's a very complex thing these days , we haven't that much to offer players who have outgrown us and clubs and agents will manipulate the situation .

Can anybody really say that playing hard ball with Styles actually worked out well for us ?

Good performance and result for us to end a horrible season.

Work already well underway for next season so I guess that is a (rare) positive for us. I would expect a retained list out in the not too distant future and the only out of contract player I would keep is Humphrys, providing his wage is within our means.

I?ve said it for months but it will be a huge summer for us and I?d expect plenty of change throughout the squad. For a start, it is clear Hourihane will be playing a back 4 next season (finally we get rid of wing backs!) so that will definitely require a fair bit in change of personnel. Then there?s the players who will have other clubs sniffing around. I would expect plenty of attention for DKD, Phillips, Connell and Russell. I think the first 2 will end up leaving for a championship side but hopefully the latter 2 stay.

I don?t trust the owners and Mladen to bring in any of the players that we need (only need to look at previous transfer windows for evidence) but hopefully Hourihane will have a lot of say and use his connections in the game. I wonder if Villa have got any good full backs or strikers they can let us have?.

No it didn't work out and you're quite right Animal. It was something that I'd not even contemplated and you've made a good point which also emphasises the difficulties in trying to run a football club under its own steam.
