Totally agree. We watched it live on TV and when it happened we didn?t even think it was a foul.
I think the fact that Jatta was being fouled prior worked against him when he was up before the FA.
If you watch in real time, the referee wasn?t even going to blow until Reeve shouted at him and then did an imaginary card gesture.
Wimbledon have been really well protected over the whole incident.
Not me. It looked just like a fully committed tackled from my lounge.
Jatta?s a big boy with very long legs.
If that had been made against a Notts player, winning the ball and making NO contact, I would have thought ?bloody hell that was a strong tackle?.
You?re going soft mate.
It wasn?t a red from the moment of impact but can see why it was given from the perspective of he initially lunges with both feet. However, he?d been held back by the defender so had no other option if he stood a chance to win the ball. The ref called it wrong.
However, he?s then swung at a player and seemingly slapped one around the face. You just can?t do that. It played right into their hands and gifts a game plan to every team we play next season.
Good on him for doing that. McCulloch and Hughsie would have done the same. Even Don Mason slapped Andy King big style.
Now this was a sending off offence - at the end of the video. Wales v New Zealand, Rugby League in 1974.
If you watch the highlights of the game, it's brutal. I can't believe I used to watch Rugby League on Grandstand in the 1970s and didn't notice some of the stuff going on.
Sportsmen were much harder/tougher then though.
I saw an interview with the Welsh player who was sent off, Jim Mills from years later, and he said it wasn't as bad as it looked - he just 'grazed' him!
