Can play as a No10, doubt we are paying him £35k a week either.

I’m absolutely certain we’re not. That is just what he was earning with the Blades.
The disparity between players wages is interesting though. Not quite sure what some players earning five to seven times what others earn does for team spirit. Genuine question…not aimed at anyone.

Its not unusual in many organisations for one employee to be earning 5 to 7 times as much as another - based on skillsets, experience etc. All animals are equal is a false mantra. That said, within the same squad where there is a presumption of similar skillsets, its likely to be disruptive and cause demands for nearer parity.

What you say about ‘many organisations’ is obviously and undeniably true but I do wonder how disruptive it is to sports teams.

I’ve only ever played in wholly amateur teams where the ‘all for one’ mantra has been important. Not sure how that stands up when one player is being paid 20k compared with another who is maybe getting 3K - especially if the better paid one has a shocker - but I’m sure there are a great many more exaggerated examples than at Derby.

Conversely, if you buy a Midfield player from abroad for half a million and then more than double his wage to 4K a week and you have another player from abroad, a striker, who cost you 6M and you double his pay to 8K a week, one would hope that the lesser paid one would understand the "premium" attached to both the fee and the wage of an international striker.

All part of man management and something I dealt with on several occasions during my time in industry. Always be aware of possible friction and always know why Fred's on 15% more than Pete...
