Just on Blackpool and their 3rd goal. I'm not accepting that the 3rd was Dawson's fault. Holmes had so much time to do something with the ball and in the end did nothing.

Maybe you could blame it on a lack of communication, we'll never know, but that's bread and butter defending. That's a player not doing his job for me, it's his ball to deal with. Tap it back to your keeper or clear it. He did neither and its a concern because Holmes was also poor against Salford.

Dawson is absolutely at fault for the third goal midweek. Holmes is shielding the attacker from the ball allowing it to run INSIDE the keepers 6 yard box and even then Dawson is too scared to come and collect the ball. He's way to static and addicted to standing on his goal line, he often does it with high balls into the box as well, though to his credit he's doing a lot better now than at the start of the season on this.

I personally still think the point about Dawson that's poor is his complete ineptitude with the ball at his feet. We don't have a team of midfielders who are going to run around and pick up all the second balls from knockdowns, or quick wingers and other forwards to make plays from flick ons,

We have one of the best central midfielders in the league, and most of the best chances were making are coming from tricky interplay in the middle of the pitch, just look at Spence's or Kaleta's chances. Hoofing the ball long to no one actually in particular stops the rest of the team from playing at their best. It's 2025 not 1985 and the game has evolved, a good keeper has to be able to do more than just be a good shot stopper

I've been saying for two years that we need a big aggressive keeper who treats invaders into the box as a personal insult.
    I'm still right.

    I disagree.

First of all the ball never enters the 6 yard box. Watch it back. It must be nearly THREE YARDS outside the box when Holmes tries to clear it. Dawson expects Holmes to deal with it because he pretty much has the ball at his feet, hence he's static. Tap it back to the keeper so that he can hoof it clear and do your job as a defender FFS.

I agree about the point on crosses. He definitely cost us points earlier in the season but now seemingly looks more prepared to come for them.

Even Johansson having problems at Stoke City, let a few goals in a lately, plus made some good saves, but I said when he went to Stoke, their defence were terrible, a keeper can be good, but needs a defence capable of doing their job in front of him.
Same with Dawson, our defence have had some right howlers this season, so not done their job, putting Dawson under pressure.

I agree, he's just an average League One keeper in what at the minute is an average League One team. We're so used to having above average keepers at this level that it just makes him look worse than he probably is.

Exactly, over the years we have been spoilt with goalies, especially in recent years.
Mike Pollitt ,who everyone recognises as great keeper, also suffered from "Dracula" syndrome, in fact the only time he really came off his line was when his Chesterfield team came back to Millmoor.
