Strange one. I'm assuming either Benji is signing a new contract (very unlikely), or we have someone lined up as Benji's replacement

Definitely would be stupid from Utd, Carson is good enough to be number one when Benji leaves, a good keeper is the most important part of the team really

Not liking the idea of player swap tbh

Yes that would make no sense at all

Appere has lots of good attributes, why would you hand it to a rival, ok mainly been from off the bench, but very impressive off the bench against Motherwell and Aberdeen

Is Watt going to be that good that we need to player swap now instead of waiting, we have sparky coming back

Main thing is getting everyone back playing and a settled side again, we don't need to reinvent the wheel, we know what works this season, we are good enough to finish top six, with or without Watt

Don't like the idea of giving them someone who isn't at his peak yet just to get someone a few months early, unless it's a loan

I don't like the idea of us pushing the boat out full stop!!! Six figure fees or players plus cash for effectively a 5 month deal?? You'd think it was Kylian Mbappe we were signing. Reeks of absolute desperation in my eyes. Fair enough if this was a young up & coming striker who has been consistently banging in 15-20 goals a season through the leagues and is going to get us a great fee in the future but it isn't, and it's a far way off. I'd love to be wrong but I'm really not all that excited by this signing at all.

To be fair we are in fact desperate for a striker.

If it's a chance to offload someone who we want to get off the books then fine - e.g connolly, reynolds, otherwise, I certainly wouldn't be paying over the odds for Watt to get him in this Jan, especially as McNulty and Maxime Biamou 'should' be fit soon. I'd wouldn't expect us to be offering any up and coming players. Watt should be an improvement on what we have, a significant improvement to justify us paying over the odds in this window - not for me.

We are but we've been stung by this kind of thing before - Lee Miller, Collin Samuel spring to mind. Watt's been pish his entire career. He scored 3 goals in 35 league games for Motherwell last season. I'm not convinced by a six month purple patch this season. A free transfer on a standard wage I could almost accept, not splashing out six figures to get early and throwing what's rumoured to be a Lawrence Shankland type salary at.
