Phillips if we're missing him we must be scraping barrel to replace him! It's deep rooted trying to bring players through now to where an English side should be at international level. Premiership it's out of control number of foreign players there now stopping English players coming through. Still need a English manager who can get more out of the players than Southgate can.

So we’ve not tried owt different because the starting 11 was the same!

No one in a million years would think that
He wants sacking alone for the Phillips comment. He chose to leave Maddison at home who's one of the most creative players in the country who can play that position. He could and should play Bellingham deeper in that role and chuck Foden in number 10 with Palmer coming in which would be more adventurous but he's just so stubborn and put of his depth it's unbelievable.

Very good points I have to agree with. Maddison is a very talented player so why didn't he include him in the squad?

I'll throw another one in. Southgate has never used a great player like he could have in the last Euros and it cost us big time, Jack Grealish. He is a totally gifted player with skill and endeavour who cuts in so quick from the left flank, why isn't he there?

Apparently he's injured, I'd hazard a guess he wasn't willing to travel just to be a bench warmer again under Southgate.

Do you know that we once had a settled side and that Kalvin Phillips was part of that? We ran all over Italy in qualifying for this tournament, beat them twice, and Kalvin started both games.

If it wasn't for his injury, he should have been in the squad and we wouldn't now be fecking around experimenting with RB in midfield.

Southgate should have gone after Italy game.

His management of that was so bad that it required him to be sacked. No excuses.

Some support him saying how "good" he's done.

Any half decent team has beaten us when it mattered. We could beat Denmark or Columbia in normal time either.

Score, sit back and hope for the best. Absolutely madness.

He has managed both of these games exactly as he did the Italy game - get a lead and then see the game out. Hes a clown.

He should not be allowed to resign after this tournament. He should be sacked.

It seems to me we have a coach who is mainly concerned with not losing.

England play crab football, sideways, back, sideways, with a hint of headless chicken. Clearly playing to instructions. With the quality England have, they play much too conservatively. This reflects the manager. They get ahead & then retreat deep and invite pressure, which doesn’t work with average teams, never mind the better ones.
The one quality player (Saka) was taken off unbelievably.

The writing was on the wall when I saw the Iceland game, yet for half an hour they looked really impressive against Serbia, before reverting to type and a better team would have punished them.

I think whatever happens this tournament Southgate will be gone. The quality of the football is simply not good enough.

I watched the game v Denmark round at my father in laws but left with 20 minutes to go. I was bored rigid.

England expects. Not necessarily to win but certainly to be entertained, not bored rigid.

Like others have said the manager is frightened to lose. Denmark were the better side and will be disappointed. If we don’t improve then the first time we play a good team it might be embarrassing. Disappointed that we haven’t turned up .
