Quite a strangey nice day today. Losing two players, but both players will go with our complete support and best wishes. Reynolds has been a huge part of us rebuilding to where we are now. Proper professional and leader.
Neilson to me is potentially the real deal. Definitely brings cover to CH. Butcher, McMann, Freeman can all play CH too. Ross Graham also back from Dunfermline. I am confident we have enough cover in the club.
Was hoping the social media tease of yesterday would result in more news today than this. Maybe more excitement to come over the weekend though!!
Good luck and thanks to Kerr Smith and Mark Reynolds from me
I hate all this Butcher, McMann, Freeman etc can play centre half. They aren't centre halves and two out of three of those would mean reshaping the first team. We should have cover that can slot right in without having to sacrifice a other positions. As for Graham, he got 7 games at Dunfermline and didn't kick another ball. Deemed the worst defender they'd seen by their fans. We can't have aspirations of a top 6 club without adequate cover in key areas.

Disagree Butcher is a CB now playing def midfield where he is better but he can play CB. Other 2 yeah prob agree. Neilson needs a few games and to sign a new contract. I think we are getting a new CB next week. Graham thats not really relevant as dunfermline are a bomb scare he needs to be given a chance.
In fairness though. Dunfermline are a total bombscare and I wouldn't trust their opinion of a player either from their employees or their fans. Wouldn't write off Graham just yet.
Accept what you say about not natural positions. Think many would argue Butcher is more a natural centre half than midfielder though. The glipsode to your argument is that reshaping team gives flexibility too. I know many hate it, but wouldn't be surprised to see us adopt 3 at the back more often after the winter break and in that format Freeman and certainly McMann could have an important role.
For absolute clarity though. I would play Neilson every day of the week. Think he has real quality and potential (particularly in a back 3). Really good at stepping forward with the ball which isn't particularly natural to Edwards or any longer to Mulgrew. Hope to see Neilson play more for the rest of the season.
Always happy if we do bring in quality though and will celebrate any quality acquisition as much as the next person. Genuinely nice that there can be debate about our youth stepping up and the flexibility of our squad. So long since that was possible.
Very best wishes to Mark Reynolds, a true professional.
