No thats not what happened. The VAR ref didnt think it was a penalty for handball so the offside was irrelevant.

It looked to me that the celtic boy punched the ball so it didnt go to the rangers player cant see for the life of me why that wasnt a penalty

This is my take as well. If it was offside...then why the goal kick?

The goal kick decision was wrong, I’ll give you that. But as it had gone out and been given as a goal kick, there really was nothing to over turn as such because it was offside anyway.

Additionally, it’s against The Rangers so it’s funny.

Yes it would have got overturned but my issue is how can these Var referees be so incompetent and why dont they explain the decision they have made at the time? Sky hadnt a clue and it took 30 mins for that offside thing to come thru.

    Makes the league look tinpot

The thing with VAR is that it is only as good as tbe person operating it. These sorts of things go on in every other match acrss the country and noone gives a hoot. Look at the amount of VAR incidents that they have reviewed and said tbat the VAR decision was wrong. VAR has helped get far more decisions right that had previously been overlooked. I think that football is too stuborn to admit that rugby seems to get it right, with the refs miked up and it being really transparent. It doesn't rule out errors being made but it establishes how they came to that decision. Most refs in Scotland will have an allegiance with one of the OF...but there is no way they are intentionally making a decision that will probably see their house windows put in and their families put in danger. VAR is here to stay...but it needs to be done properly or not at all. The fact that they are showing still images and trying to referee a photo, shows how crap the whole system is! Anyway....as the name suggests...this has been an awesome couple of days in Weegieland hearing from all the OF pellets...I love mixing it and getting them angrier!

I remember The Rangers were struggling at home v Livi(league cup i think) a The Rangers player totally wipes out a Livi defender for the clearest foul i have ever seen,Willie Collum allows play to continue and its goal The Rangers.Collum did not think it was a foul and all is well at Ibrox.

On this occasion the ref sees nothing and awards a goal kick,Willie Collum on var knows its handball but does not ask the ref to review it because he does not think the handball merits a penalty and all hell breaks loose. The Huns want their cake and to eat it too.I reckon he gets both decision's wrong, its not deliberate hand ball but that's not in the ifab handbook.

Only Willie knows why he did not ask the ref to review the handball but then only Willie knows why it was not a free kick to Livi and The Huns were more than happy with one major phuck up but not with the other,as Stokie Boy said its covering up a host of glorious chances decent strikers would have buried.

VAR .... fcukin' nightmare. Causing more "problems/issues" than solving them.

I know it is here to stay unfortunately, clubs seem to be grudginly accepting it. Why the fcuk are they demanding to hear the audio???

What next? Asking to read the Refs report , before the match??? Kiddin' obviously, but......... where does it end FFS?

I'm all for transparency , but there has to be a limit.

What next? Live feed fae the dugoot? "get Bannon aff"

Nah.... it's went too far aridy.

After 75 SPFL games the unthinkable happens as The Rangers concede a penalty, remember the name John Beaton who after a var check awards Killie an Ibrox penalty.
