As a club, we're stuck in a crossroads because you don't want to go out and spend beyond the budget (which is already maxed) on a squad that is likely to not make the play offs this season. Equally, if you sign nothing, the fans are asking why you haven't signed anything, become disenchanted and stop going to games, and the budget is hit even further in the summer.

I think the two we've done so far will add real quality to the group, and is an ode to a change in strategy. We're moving away from "names", and people Evans has worked with previously, and moving towards looking at a younger profile of player, and a focus on much needed athleticism, mobility and technical ability, which is absolutely the way we should be going. This, in my eyes is what we as fans want to see and is part of the fabric of good Rotherham teams of old. To me it feels like the recruitment team have been much more involved in this window compared to last summer.

Play offs is a way off and I don't think we'll get there but the deals we've done so far, and the deals we have to come will give us every chance of having a very palatable L1 team, capable of winning a lot of games at the level and crucially create positivity within the fan base to carry us into a really important summer window for us.
    Hi MillerMadman

you make some sencible comments there but I think that you've also brought attention to the problem and the decline of the club since Evans has arrived.
Allow me to make a point from each one of your paragraphes.

1, We have far less players in our squad than the last 10 years or budget can't be maxed in comparison plus the sale of players and them not being replaced means a finacial boost to the coffers.

2, You say that Evans has previously worked with the players he has signed. This is not a really good sign because he's been working in league one or two since he left Leeds United. None of the players he has signed are Championship level or can be considered Championship quality. If the ambitionof him and the Chairman are to be in the Championship then we have no chance.

3, The expectation of minimum the play-offs did not come from the spectators it came from Evans and Stewart.

We have gone backwards years since Evans has been with us this time and as there are only 6 players left over form previous managers I beleiv that if we have a problem with moneyy then it's down to the contracts from last year and those of the players that he has brought in that has caused it.

SE sure he not got him here just to sit on the bench. We're light in midfield so starting tomorrow?

Man utd have sent out five wannabes on loan. I hope we've got the best of the bunch. Who was that lanky centre half Evans signed from Man United in his first stint? Disappeared without trace

In place of who?? Humphries, No. Odoffin if we call him a midfielder, No. Sibley, No. If Odoffin goes back in defence, then Yes. Who knows!

In place of Mcdonald starting. I'd go 4-5-1

    Phillips

    Rafferty Raggett Jules James

    Gore Odoffin Humphreys Sibley Powell

    Nombe

    Don't think it's a game for Wilkes.

Reading the stats & between the lines I think he?s just a bit part bench warmer, certainly not the player to push us in the play offs but good luck to the lad just do you best & fans will appreciate it.
