Yes I think there'll be a much bigger queue of "high calibre" candidates in the "bigger job than ours" category 🙂

We've interviewed championship managers and they've asked what the wages budget is. They know what is required and upon hearing said number have gone thanks Tone but no thanks.

Taking time flattered blah blah is just lighting salesman talk. Say the right things for external audiences while giving internal audiences the real situation.

10yrs on from NYS and Rotherham United are as attractive as ever.

    Should have stayed at Millmoor
Ha , obviously a fishing trip, but the crass stupidity of the comment makes it worth challenging.....

It we'd "stayed at Millmoor" and the "lighting salesman" had never lit up our lives, we'd probably be looking forward to trips to Worksop Town or Macclesfield. That's if we had a club to support at all.

No matter who's in charge, the grass will always be greener on the other side for some people.

When MT was sacked I honestly thought that his replacement had been sourced, agreed and would be good to go.I thought a plan was in place.Obviously not. It's very brave of TS to state that he wants a ''proper Championship manager who has done it'',because if he can't get one it all begins to look a little bit silly! I liked MT and will always believe, unless the future proves totally differently, that we should have stuck with him ,even to League 1.

Don’t know about anyone else but my big fear is we end up with someone for want of a better description “crap”
Surely the most sensible thing to do is give whoever till end of season and put a massive £ bonus in if we stay up after all we’ve done this with the older age players haven’t we and look how well that’s gone!
We seem to be stuck between not being able to afford a proven championship manager or offering it to someone that everyone when appointed will think meh
Really don’t know what the answer is to be honest

MT dug his own grave in the summer transfer window. Also especially on the right hand side not replacing Chieo & Harding. Whoever comes in he's got to get cover to Dext on that side for starters.

I have a niggling suspicion that's what TS had in mind when he sacked Matt Taylor but his intended target said he wasn't looking for a job until February.

Much as I love Warnock, we really can't rely on him to get us out of the sh*t again, surely there's someone decent who wants the job.

I agree but if it was Warnock I was hoping he'd have a successor working alongside him.
Surely whoever TS appoints now has to be someone with a realistic chance of keeping us in the Championship this time and then building a squad to improve on that next season.
Oh well, you can always hope.

So now we have Rob Scott drawing up a short list of candidates (chairman on holiday ?) with interviews manana. Suppose that means the new man won't be bringing in his own recruitment team !! Even more convinced that it unfortunately it will be Richardson. Return to hoofball ? Incidentally a home and away Wycombe supporter i know tells me they were very watchable at home under Ainsworth but his tactics away were to grind out points and not entertain opposition supporters.

It wouldn’t surprise me if a deal is already done and the manager will be introduced to the fans on Friday and get himself on sky. Then watch from the stands before officially starting on Monday.

No one wants to get hammered at home on the telly on the first day of the job.
