I would be incensed if I were Williams.
After posting I was thinking about the last couple we had. Yup definitely one during Fullarton's reign, that one home match in particular was the most toxic I ever recall a meadow lane crowd with a group of fans gathered behind the dugout with the game in progress unchallenged shouting obscenities and telling the poor man where to go in no uncertain terms.
The other was near the end of the Murphy/Thompson era, nice to see some banners to accompany the usual chants of genuine displeasure.
Bar those two we tend to either stay away and/more moan online during my time as a fan.
Luton home Dec/94, a protest at the end of that game outside the main stand forced Slade out. Came way too late though, we were as good as down already with the extra relegation place that season.
I think there was a protest away at Rotherham(>) at the end of Thommo's 2nd spell too, but I wasn't there. I think he did go over to confront them though and was sacked before the next match.
The atmosphere was very bad at Brazil's last game before he was replaced by Dearden, players being booed every missplaced pass at one stage. Numerous managers have been sacked days after the chants for the manager's head first rang out, including Warnock.
We've certainly been good at the easy chants (Mills at R&D away a prime example), but I can't remember many big protests that I've seen other clubs have organised against owners and to a lessor extent managers.
No proper protests against owners, no. Other than Trew, previous owners all realised when they'd outstayed their welcome and quit before a protest was necessary. Scardino tried to wrestle back control but was deemed even less credible than Bhatia/Strang. The Trews ought to have been the sole target of the Orient protest rather than Fullarton, but he'd somehow managed to make himself more disliked than them in the space of a mere six weeks or so.
Just three games into this season, unbeaten, we really shouldn't be having this discussion. No idea if NCMAD in any way reflects the general mood of the fans, but if it does, LW has a very tough job ahead of him.
This is some kind of wind up I take it, regarding protests, all the puns aside.
We are three unbeaten games into the season and have not been able to field our strongest side yet. FFS get a grip.
