Note the use of the word "expressly"
But if you are that bothered go armed with a made up name & address can't see the landlord having a full set of the electoral register

No I don't hand my name and address to anyone, but that isn't what we are talking about here. I will probably go for a beer or two when the pubs re-open. I will exercise a bit of judgement and not bother if the premises of my choice are too crowded. I don't have an issue with the licensee having my name and address, because I would quite like to know if another drinker tests positive. That's my position. What's your issue with it?

That's pretty much the spirit that I would approach it. Problem is that the wife says she'll cut my balls off if I go in a pub with Covid still rife. Bit of an extremist she is.

Allegedly so in the event of a local ised out break they will be able to track & trace & thus isolate & thus quarantine

but does seem odd that oganisations that are members only who have every members details together with record of attendfance, fully able to distance equipment & fully able to sterilise equipment before & after use not allowed to open namely keep fit gyms

I suspected that but thought track and trace was done by phone. Maybe name and phone number would be more accepable to GF.
