As strange as it may seem, there is still room for a Sir Geoffrey type, at test level. The game might have changed but a Test Match still can last five days.
It is interesting though as Stokes saw while batting yesterday that he didn't fancy our tail needing too many against the new ball, so took it upon himself to push the run rate on with some 'one day batting', this eventually lead to his downfall but did change the game.
I guess it has added a new dimension to test cricket, but it would be lovely to see a few more top order batsmen play straight, and take the shine off the ball.

We're crying out for a player or two like that. Someone who only gives their wicket away to an absolute jaffa of a ball. Some of our lot act like they're playing rounders!

The top 3 batsmen give you no confidence whatsoever. Surely we must have better.

Notts T20 game at Warwickshire reduced to 8 overs per side, Notts need 99 to win.

Notts reply starting soon and can be watched here:

Chaotic sums it up well. Hales and Duckett put us in a great position, the rest of the batsmen just weren't up to it.

That and the fact we were playing with virtually four number 11’s. Another wicket and we’d have struggled today. Credit to Foakes for sticking with Root though.

In a game where nearly 200 hundred runs were scored in 16 overs, and to lose by one run, I just think however disappointing, it is hard to blame anyone. If anything I think not only in this game, but the others as well, our quicker bowlers have lacked accuracy.
After the top three or so, it is always going to be hard coming in with so little time to 'get your eye in', especially in such a short time when chasing at a very high run rate.
As Dan Christian has said though, it is better to peak near the end of the group stages than at the beginning.

Yet another thrashing (by Yorkshire this time). Notts are supposed to be good aren't they? At the moment we are serious contenders for the wooden spoon. Almost makes you glad to get back to the glory of the VNL.

I watched most of the live stream, and we were never in the game. Mullaney and Christian added a degree of respectability, but the top order were pathetic. Alex Hales is living on his reputation, and Joe Clarke needs dropping to try and wake him up a bit. If it's an easy target he will do the business, if it's a difficult target he will consistently bottle it. He has loads of talent, but he also has the heart of a mouse.
