You are right Ian. Things are really bad with not just the UK but also USA and Europe. It really is the beginning of a power shift within the whole world from the West to the East.

Once USA goes bust, which will happen, the rest of the west will fall like dominos because of the massive debts.

If Scotland can escape bankruptcy by going alone then maybe its time to do it.

One of the big problems facing us is the fact that its not as you say "Big Businesses pumping money into the system". Its been the banks themselves printing money (quantative easing) to keep the UK afloat, as have the USA and many other countries. In the future this will lead to paper money having the value of confetti and hyper inflation will take off. £1 loaf of bread becoming £10. That way the heavily indebted countries can pay of their debts in worthless money. The problem is that everyone will be financially crippled.

Yes for me...As you cannot be "Independent" in a "Union" and this is a once in a generation opportunity & above party politics.

Whether "Yes" or "No" there will still be a Scotland the day after, and whatever issues have to be dealt with, then they would be better dealt with in Edinburgh rather than Westminster in my opinion.

Agree it's a huge challenge, but one worth taking and whatever the outcome all parties( SNP,Labour,Conservative,Lib Dems and Greens )will all have to tackle problems like NHS Funding,Pensions and Currency ( if "Yes" vote).

My humble view is people shouldn't be bringing their politics to a Queen of the South forum. It only unnecessarily risks causing division and alienation among an already limited support. the same goes for religion. There's plenty forums out their related to politics for those who want to voice their political views.

As I said, just my humble opinion.

I am sure there will be some people who think likewise. A few counter points to that though ...

No one is forced to post a comment if they feel that way. I actually do agree that your stance should be the norm on here, but this is potentially a once in a lifetime event that in a roundabout way could effect FOOTBALL.

Eg Many Scottish players ply their trade down south. If Scotland voted for independence and did not get into the EU in the short term then as I understand it non international Scottish players would have very limited rights to play in England. Could have massive rami

I can understand your viewpoint but this was too big to ignore . As previous people have said, the UK is teetering towards financial ruin . They are throwing everything on a massive card but the credit limit is surely nearly up . The Tory/ Labour elite will have their money stashed everywhere and will not affect people like that . If we reject independence , it will be the worst decision this country ever made . The Conservatives cannot wait to bring the Scots to heel in the event of a No vote .They have let it slip a few times . There will be a massive cut in our budget and money com

To be honest I haven't seen or heard of any problems. Lively debates in pubs and work places yes, but not abuse.

I'm sure jimbigqos post was in the heat of the moment, and no offence would be meant.

We should be pleased we've got this unique opportunity without the need for the troubles which cursed Ireland
    during the 20's.

It's a YES from me. In fact I am actively campaigning for it, knocking on doors etc, and I was one of the signatories of the Business for Scotland letter in the press the other day.

A few things I have noticed when going round the doors. There are a lot of undecided voters, and none of them seem to be moving towards No. Much of the No vote is almost an inertial, default position that frequently crumbles when you get into conversation with people. Many people are looking for reassurance, and many of them have questions that can be answered - the mainstream media are very hostile to independence so if someone gets their info from the Record, it tends to be a bit one-sided, so some balance needs to be given. The Better Together lot appear to have very few activists while the Yes campaign is very grassroots with loads of people involved, from all across the political spectrum, SNP, Greens, LFI, LibDems, SSP etc. plus loads of people who are not linked to any political party. The YES
