Oops Ella, he's joined on loan and not on a permanent deal. Although we do have the option to make it permanent so we're both right in a way.
My Bad whatever that means RFC. My source said permanent but he's probably a weirdo too.

Do we believe he'll get a Shotton target against the opposition guys? {cue OTR with other corny references}.
Mobile, physical, decent enough in the air and has a monster throw. I haven't seen too much of him but saw him live for Stoke as I went with a friend a couple of years back, and he was decent enough. I'm glad to have him in the squad.

Looking on the Stoke Forums they say he's never really held down any position but played wherever he's been asked to play! All wish him well and seem to think its a good move for him, us and them! Apparently signed on loan so he can play tomorrow?? But will make move permanent for a fee of 500k. Seems that he always gives his all... Hopefully Steve can mould him into which ever position he feels he suits best!

On the RamsPlayer interview he is asked what position he plays. Answer: "I'm a centre back, either left or right side."

Pretty clear he's here to challenge Buxton and Keogh.

from what I've seen of him he's very good at this level. I always thought he was a decent premier league player. if we'd of signed him to replace wisdom in the summer I'd of been drooling.

my only concern if whether he could end up a victim of his own utility. he is without doubt a very good right back but Christie seems to have nailed that spot. wouldn't surprise me to see him play DMF. I'd be tempted to pie Keogh off.

If he's a good header that's great we've needed someone who will give us more options from free kicks and corners for years.

apparently he is so good he can actually get on the end of some of his long throws!

    re: Shotton

After reading a long thread on a Stoke forum it seems he has potential but was screwed by not having a single position run in the side. Lot of guys there rate him higher than their current number 1 right back Bardsley.

Very little on Stoke Mad. However, there is a common thread with Shotton's signing and that of Leon Best: both had lost their way at their previous club and have a chance to re-ignite. This means they will be hungry and eager to impress. I suspect we will see both Best and Shotton tonight. Best will get a full game I reckon with Shotton coming on after 60-65 minutes, regardless of the game situation.

Interesting that McClaren's main tactic to up the performance of the Rams is to increase competition for places.

I know it's only the League Cup, but for me there is the issue of revenge for the League defeat last week. Charlton are a good side and I suspect McClaren will want to slap Charlton as well as looking at new players. - view external link
