    re: Huddersfield tonight

I'll go middle ground on last night.

I think Omar did well, I'd give him a 7. Not awesome, just well.

I think all this 'super tackler Eustace' Eustace the grinder' talk is bull ****. I'm not an 'Angry' when it comes to Eustace, but he isn't a 'hard' DM IMO. I think he has slightly better positional sense than Omar, but he gets caught out plenty, too. He does add a calming head tho and his experience is missed when he's out of the team.

Thorne will sort this debate out!

As for the whole performance... I was happy. Given recent blip we came out very confidently and positively. Everyone wanted the ball and I thought we used it well. We still look vulnerable at the back and get stretched across the back 4 too easily for my liking, but on the whole a decent performance. You wouldn't of thought it judging by the crowd response. The general vibe was one of nerves and a lot of people seemed to jump on any slight mistake, backward pass, lost 50/50, like it was the end of the worl

Most certainly was at the game Nick. Mascarell is swift across the pitch, and has a good range of passes {though too often chooses the 45 yarder instead of the 12 yarder} but plays way too deep, plays sideways and is paper-thin in the tackle. His dead ball is very good compared with Ward and Russell {less so} but with him in the side we looked vulnerable just in front of the back four at all times. Add Shotton into the mix, and we back-pedal when teams run at us. Tonight was the least convincing home performance in a long time and I inlude the games V Wigan and Millwall in that. The forwards won us the game tonight. With Shotton, Forsyth below par, and Mascerell we looked like an Autumn leaf clinging to the twig in a strong wind. Were it not for Butland's excellent shot-stopping, we would only have got a point. We won 3-2, but Huddersfield can count themselves unlucky. Their midfield play was better than ours [b] as a collective[/

I am still gonna defend Omar. Last night, he was effective both offensively and defensively. I dont think our defensive frailties last night were any consequence of Omar. He played the CDM role as I would expect.

For me I would look at Keogh/Shotton - lack of confidence in this pairing. I dont think Shotton is a left sided CB. He panics at times. Keogh gets drawn out of position as he tries to anticipate problems. And you then see the impact in their first goal. Defenders not playing in their own spaces! Nothing in that goal would I put down to Omar

2nd goal. Basic cross in. 2 big CH's and we let one of them get a header from 6 yards. Looked like he was Shottons man on the replays, but cant say for sure.

As for the general play over 90mins and space for their midfield to play into...I dont think they had a great deal of possession to be honest in the middle. OK, they threatend out wide a few times. I would say that missing Bryson is a factor in closing down players in CM

take last night. most of the things omar did he did well. it's more to do with what he doesn't do that's I've got a problem with. which obviously is hard to judge for some people as a lot of fans will judge him on what he does do with the ball.
Absolutely. We were forced to play so deep last night with Mascarell sweeping up across the 20-22yard area, and pinging balls sideways from there. He does look elegant on the ball {he's Spanish after all} but he lacks any steel and bite. And Shotton just has no presence. And did you notice that Chris Martin played very deep too because the whole team was forced to come and get the ball much deeper?

Bring back Eustace, and Buxton for Wolves and note the difference. Wolve
