    re: How confident are you?

Firstly the thread is only two weeks old not six or eight months so still a live topic!

Secondly if you check Ramondo has already posted I didn't agree with the closing of other threads regardless of who it is.

And finally I be had most of this season, and last, with the usually bully boys tell me how wrong I am and constant abuse/ridiculous only to be proven right. This time it took two weeks to have it basically confirmed by their hero Rush himself.

What's funny is then usual suspects still won't admit they were wrong and claim that other took a punt on probabilities or something as ridiculous as that. I could pull up literally 100s of older threads and examples of that ... But I myself haven't!

So yes maybe a bit of gloating is what the usual suspect need then they may be open to other opinions and not chase them off like they have been doing!

To be really pedantic, I could say the thread is actually THREE weeks old - check it out. However, you miss my point. It is YOU who is obsessed with proving people wrong. Every single post is aimed at the same objective; Rattea is right; he has been woefully abused by all these happy clappers who have dared to suggest that he may be wrong; his own pompous and abusive use of terms like 'vapid' and 'faildale' must be excused because it is only revenge... and so on. Things would be so much better if you occasionally admitted that there is another alternative view without being a 'blind faither', 'Rush-lover', 'happy clapper', or indeed some kind of simpleton who cannot see 'the context' and needs you to'let me explain it to you in terms you can understand'. Some of what you post is poignant and astute, but so much of it gets lost in all the other vitriol. Can you not just put an end to that?

Looking at some of the comments by Rush as to Mcclaren going the ownership group shared my concerns!

"You are looking for huge amounts of investment in a Championship football club and that could be anywhere between £10m and £20m for a non-parachute Championship football club. Quite rightly, the board has to believe hugely in the person they are entrusting with that level of investment and I think they wanted to look for a new head coach."

Yet another fluke and I'm still completely wrong hey Swale

You show our great intelligence yet again!

Everyone has to recognise that within a few months of MacClaren arriving the bar was changed . Our success in that season means that promotion is now expected / demanded by the owners, something that couldn't have happened in the Clough years. MacClaren leaving is the results of these expectatio

    The bar had been raised???

    How exactly???

All Mcclaren did was resign cloughs signings on longer contracts and failed to bring in any notable signings himself hence it appears the comments by Rush!

Also another poster seems to think Alberto Bueno signing for Porto is a level of Cloughs signings.

So again I invite you how has Mcclaren raised the bar exactly???

For gods sake Rattea points per game, win ratio, league position, attendances etc etc all improved after maclaren arrived so by any definition he improved on clough. It went wrong at the end and he paid the price BUT he still improved us. Now when we should be looking forward you are still banging on about a manager who left 20 months a go (and a CEO who left before that). It's tedious reading the same rubbish over and over as you somehow think you have to prove that you were right about something that most people have forgotten about.

    re: How confident are you?

Ignoring the detail, the analysis and so on, Blattea, and speaking simply as a fan, McClaren raised the bar by making us fans look upwards towards promotion and the premier league whereas under Clough we always looked over our shoulders at avoiding relegation and League 1.

Maybe neither was realistic - history so far says so - but he re*****ised the Club, brought the crowds back and gave us more TV exposure (and thus revenue).

Speaking even more personally, he made me go back to games. I had stopped bothering under Clough. My bar was raised, even if yours remained flaccid in your trousers.

Actually the win ratio is astonishing when comparing it to Nige.
Cloughs only a miserable 33%, whilst Macs was over 54% overall. And i believe 34% after Jan when he still outshone our nige.
And this whilst not adding any new players. Amazing what a decent coach can do when his mind is on the job

    Should it be Todger_Ramjet

But that's not a true measure. The performances against same opposition when Clough left ... Not the years of rebuilding ... There is almost no difference. Performances against same opposition was better with the odd exception under Clough also.

    Have a look at

Well it is a popularly held view that you are "all mouth and no trousers" so (to mix the metaphor) if the cap fits, wear it
