    re: Mel buys the Rams

@Anagram - I'm not sure that Mel needs any extra investors at present if he is happy to fully utilise his own funds. He might feel more comfortable with a shared risk though. I could see a situation where he sells a minority stake to a consortium of local businessmen (usual suspects, Gadsby, Kirkland, Loring, Webb, Amott etc), who would be in it for prestige and the possibility of a return if promotion is achieved. They've all invested pretty much for those reasons in the past.

Once we go up it will depend on Mel's ambitions. I'd say the Premier League money on its own would allow us to fund a team able to stay in the league. At this point I'd say that it is highly likely that we are entirely debt free - the charge for the CO-OP stadium 'mortgage' has been cleared recently (although it might just part of a refinancing deal and the loan has merely transferred to another lender). With a little extra form Mel we could be mid table or just a bit above. It's only if he really wants to pl

Andy Appleby was never seen or heard from when he owned the club, at least we now got an owner in Mel Morris who is seen and heard from and are in the know of the day to day running of the business.

I beg to differ. Did you not read the gut wrenching, stomach turning and vile enducing double centre page pull out spread in the DET titled 'The Appleby's at Christmas' some years back?

TMDS "Andy Appleby was never seen or heard from when he owned the club, "

Possibly this was because Andy Appleby never owned the club - he was a minor shareholder via the management company that put together the north american ownership consortium. have you heard of the maxim "engage brain before using typing skills!"

He was also the Chairman, plus he was acting CEO between Slick and Rush. So it would be expected that we'd hear from him from time to time?

Having said that, I don't really agree with the original comment - he did actually have quite a high and visible presence at times, sometimes through necessity. He was also the only Chairman I've known who would actually respond personally to emails, and when some fans had specific and constructive complaints (none abusive and not the usual 'why aren't we spending more' and 'wheres the money gone' stuff) then I do know he was known to offer to m

He was always in America never once seen him take part in any day to day activities and yes he help to sustain the club but that was behind close doors in his company headquarters G.S.E.

I'm another who welcomes the new ownership. Some people harp back to Lionel and the financial disaster his ownership eneed up but they forget the great things he brought - a new stadium - a new academy - Prem football. My only niggling doubt is that Mel Morris may want to run everything but as a successful business man he surely must realise he needs to have the right people employed and give them the leeway and responsibility to get on with it.

"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it".

I do understand the concerns of some posters, but I cannot see how MMs takeover can be a negative.

Maybe if we had beaten Leeds people would be seeing it differently.

Back to the above quote – history shows us what happens when DCFC show some ambition and light up the slot machine of football.

Initially there will be a struggle, but after a couple of seasons we will rise to the top table of the game and be on the verge of top ten sustainability.

After approximately 6-7 seasons the wheels will completely come off and we will once again be in free fall.

The way I see it, we are incredibly fortunate to have a successful businessman in the area who has enough cash to make a difference to DCFC. Incredibly fortunate. So, let's enjoy the ride for the next six or seven seasons as exciting times are ahead. Football is entertainment after all, and I think we are about to be entertained.

Merely referencing an inaccurate newspaper article from before the take over even happened and certainly before the actual ownership structure had emerged does not help your cause. Two wrongs do not make a right!

I suppose you really think that a World War 2 bomber and a London Bus have been found on the moon just because the Sunday Sport said so. Not forgetting of course the face of Jesus being seen on a piece of naan bread.

But if you don't believe me, let me refer you to someone that you maybe do believe. On a post just yesterday on another thread you revealed to the world that Mel and Brett were "mainly the majority shareholders" (sic)

Sometimes your naivety staggers me! I thought schools had started back today - are you playing truant?

Roger – save your keystrokes. We want wise words of business expertise from you, not silly squabble. Merely send him to his bedroom.
