Middlesbrough To Win
Wolves To Win
Draw
History finally made and for many of us seeing our first victory up there since 1951. This game had everything. I class this one has being on a par with the away win at Bristol City. There was so many talking points throughout the game. In my opinion 2-0 at the break could easily have been 4-0 but for Randolph in the 'Boro goal. Down the years i have seen Wolves face numeous Tony Pulis' sides and not a lot changes, bar the club he manages. I could sit here and type about his style of play, but it almost always brings results. Last night it didn't.
One thing under Nuno Wolves have nearly always kept their discipline, but a strong ref was needed for both sides, as well as his assistants. I do feel Attwell was trying to again be the star of the show. But quite a few Wolves players let themselves down, booking for dissent and surrounding the ref. The ref needed to be stronger with the Costa/Friend incident, and he wasn't, this is where a few of the Wolves players lost it.
I have no problem with the second yellow picked up by Neves. He go in the way he did, and he got what he deserved with the second yellow. Matt Doherty should feel hard done by for his second yellow, the ref couldn't wait to get his cards out.
The last part of the game seemed like hours, if i was a 'Boro fan i would be disappointed that my side didn't throw more at Wolves and a credit for me goes out to the nine players that stood up to the home side, despite Bamford scoring in injury time.
I would have been happy before kick off for Wolves to come away with a draw, but so glad it was all three.
Gav, I have to agree with you about the ref. I understand he has supported Villa and comes from Nuneaton. If he had have red carded the Boro player that assulted Cav in the early stages he might have had an easier game. Instead he made a rod for his own back with the Costa incident. I feel his assistants could have helped with the situation.
Like the TV pundits, I was not sure how, or why Nevis received his first yellow. As for Docherty, how you are supposed to jump without using your arms I don't know.
The lads must not let Cardiff wind them up next week, because you can bet your boots that Warnock will mention it in his team talk.
All the team did well last night but a special mention must go to the defence. Boly again was emense and Bennet and Coady were terrific. Saiss ran himself into a stand still ,while the left foot of Douglas is a secret weapon.
Hull on Tuesday must be three points to keep the pressure on our friends from Wales.
