You can buy into it or not BT, your choice, but the fact remains that our most profitable signing ever, Michael Keane, was signed at the last minute, on a loan deal, because we'd spent all summer pursuing Dawson. You can point out how much we made on him all you want, the fact remains he was an afterthought, a panic buy, we never intended to sign him, and never would have done but for WBA playing silly buggers with Dawson.

Turned out nice again though sinkov?

Who on earth would have thought we would ever sign Joe Hart for £4m. Surely they get credit for that.

not really we needed a keeper quick, Hart was probably the only Keeper of a decent standard we could get done that quick, he knew he was not wanted at City and going off nobody even sniffing around a recent England no1 for relative peanuts or a loan City must have thought it was Christmas when we offered to pay a fee. yes they got him in but Pep was literally trying to give him away all summer so they couldn't really fail.

I think that, in the market in which we are working, our recruitment has been exceptionally good.

Trouble is, the market in which we are working is far too small.

We limit ourselves to Championship teams in the main.

We simply can't compete with teams when trying to buy proven Prem players.

We simply must ramp up our overseas scouting network - that is where many bargains are to be had.

I am sure the club must be looking at doing this but it really needs action right now.

It's not that we lost interest in these players, it's not that we were far away in the transfer fees or wages, it's not that the players didn't want to sign for us, it's not that WBA won't transfer their players, other clubs have signed players from them this summer. Whatever the reason, our transfer team simply failed to bring in the players the manager wanted, they failed to get the job done.
Not supported by the facts Sinkov.
West Brom sold two players one for £5.6m McLean to Stoke and one for £4m Evans to Leicester while loaning Rondon who supposedly had a £16.5m release clause. Their manager previously said he was hanging on to Jay if they couldn’t keep Rondon.
Maybe that’s why he’s still there - whatever we offered.

I've checked back OC, nothing I posted is factually incorrect, perhaps you could point out where I am in error ? If you are correct and our only chance of signing Jay was if WBA kept Rondon, then it's just more evidence of the incompetence of our recruitment team. Were they really just hanging around all summer, waiting to see what happened with Rondon ? Maybe they were, nothing would surprise me about our recruitment team any more.

What intrigued me sinkov was why WBA allowed Rondon to leave on an exchange loan deal for Gayle? Bizarre!

Why our hapless recruitment team could not engineer a situation where Rondon stayed at WBA by zipping £20 million down to the Hawthorns for Jay Rod I just don't know?

Baldwin knew Terrier Taxis were on standby. Like the Temptations once sang, it's "A Ball of Confusion" and it is becoming fairly obvious that our recruitment/negotiating team are indeed unfit for purpose.

They certainly do not seem like an asset for the club.Like Sinkov points out if they knew that was the case regarding Rondon why ponce about all Summer waiting for them to offload Rondon.

That's another thing Supersub6, why can't the club tell the fans what happened after the event? If West Brom are difficult to deal with as SD has recently implied, why not just bang the money on the table or walk away?
