Most football chairman expect their managers to construct the best possible team within the budget available to them and I would imagine TS expects something similar of Warne. If he doesn't get this, his trigger finger may get itchy again.
Someone has said we don't have a budget and TS just chucks money into the pot when it's needed. I can't imagine any business being run that way, but if it's true, why does the club employ a Financial Director?
    To buy cheap pots.

To be honest mellow it’s sometimes like listening to politicians gone round in circles never getting a true answer listening to the club at times.

You can by a top quality stallion but if you have no jockey or field he will just end up as burgers instead of winning you millions at the races
To use another analogy, why spend millions on a vase, just to put weeds in it.I honestly believe TS thinks the extra money we make this year, will compensate for next season if we go down.I think thats the extent of his ambition.

    Maybe

Maybe he thinks if we go down we have same budget as we did before if we stop up we have more money to save.
I’m amazed we have 2 young international players in our academy not to mention semi before warne the only internationals we had for ages go out was young loans like Izzy brown and he was recalled

It was clearly just a throwaway line and we have no chance of achieving it based on the current financial status of the club.
In fact we'll be lucky to stay in the Championship for a decent length of time based on the current financial status of the club.
Wasn't the five years the period that he set to get into the Championship?

I'd love to buy a ski lodge in Aspen within five years. It isn't likely to happen though.

That analogy only works if you are mortgaging the vase to buy flowers to put into it.

Whether we make any 'extra money' this year remains to be seen when the relevant accounts come out.

This is like asking why your neighbor doesn’t buy a better car.
You don’t know the incomings and outgoings but still ask why they aren’t spending more.

Without knowing the full facts it’s difficult to criticise.

every season in the championship we should be buying that 500 to 700k player on a 3 year contract in hope to sell him on.

but with comment about 2 players costing him a million I doubt we would be willing to spend that again. (once bitten twice shy)

I think it is a case off dont lose money this season and cross fingers and toes we can stay up.

The way I See it is that the championship is as high as we will ever get. This isn't being negative just realistic. I'm happy to enjoy what we've got, the atmosphere when the "big" clubs come to NYS is great but basically we are outplayed more often than not and any scrappy win feels great. I just say enjoy the ride but unless a Russian oligarch takes a liking to Rotherham (a la Bournemouth) then this is as good as it gets

And if the 500 to 700k players turn out to be duds and we can't get shot? It happens.
