It's just one of those things that'll never be as good as mens football but because it's football you want it to be!
Will the new sponsorship deal improve the payers and the football itself? I think it will just like it did when the Sky deal money started filtering through. It will improve but it'll take a bloody long time.
..........if you think its that bad, wait, and in 10 years you'll be commenting on the Transgender World Cup....
Women's tennis, hockey, netball all good standards and worthy of praise.
Women's football ain't got it although I'd make and exception and say the Norwegian,s are worth some viewing time
It's hardly a new thing. I remember watching Doncaster Belles live on chanel 4 about 30 years ago! They used to be on quite often too, Sunday 12 o clock! That was when almost all football was played on a Saturday. I watched it cos it was there.
I also went to a womens international game at Millmoor around 1991, England v Italy.
Its getting more exposure now and certainly more commercial funding.
In the 70s the England women's captain was from Rawmarsh, long before the game had the exposure it has today. Growing up with her, age for age she wasn't as good as the best male players who went on to sign professional contracts but she was certainly as good as the better than average boys. I suppose if we were able to see what PNE were like when they won the first league title 130 years ago it would be laughable compared to today's standard. Once the women's game has had the same number of years of development as the men's game I'm sure it will be a more polished offering. For what it's worth, despite the improvement in fitness, technique, facilities, equipment etc. I'm not sure the men's game is a better form of entertainment than it was 40 years ago when it had more of the rough edges that the women's game shows today.
