We seemed to manage OK when Raddy was at the club. And before that with McManus, Brown and Watling. I suppose Jack Wheeler did the job back then, as he was a goalie. As well as being physio and making the tea. And being caretaker manager.

    Here's some maths: Jack Wheeler > 1,000 x Crossley.

    Sorry I make that: Jack Wheeler > 1,000 x Crossley+ Ardley x (Beanhead+Nolan).

Yeah because the standard of football back then was the same as it is now... Sirrel and his methods wouldn't work today, neither would Clough imo and the players of today (maybe not last seasons team) would run rings around players from that era, it's a different game.

I wasn't talking about methods, I was talking about character and commitment.

Btw, I'm past caring now, does anyone want an argument? Because if any **** says Crossley is fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Jack Wheeler, they'll get one.

Also, does anyone really believe modern day footballerers at Notts are up to the standards Don Masson set? Of course he could have competed today because his game was about skill and vision, which is exactly what the modern player lacks.

So you don't think the likes of Masson, Bradd and O'Brien couldn't adapt to todays style of football?

It is perfectly acceptable to review performance at the end of a contract. That is where the boring phrase "learning from our mistakes" has it's day. So here goes. End of term report on Mr Crossley.

A review of MC's time with this club shows that in dealing with the Goalkeepers, he abjectly failed to improve any of them.
Collin was Ok for our level, but was allowed to leave/chose to leave,
Fitz and Pindroch were not good enough to step up to the plate and showed no significant improvement from any "coaching".
Young GK's were not developed quick enough to challenge the above 2.
I presume MC had some say in bringing Schofield to the club, who - in terms of the above - should have been 5th in the pecking order anyway as he was nowhere near ready for league 2 football.
