We have to keep finding and developing (and yes that means selling) decent players. It's our only model available.
Selling really good proven championship players for a very low price isn't what we should be doing perigord. If we were struggling financially I would probably be more understanding, and had we kept him, we would have also have a better chance of promotion this season even if it meant losing him for nothing.

It's also how having low aspirations works.
We didn't have to accept that fee if we thought Ajayi was worth more than that so we must presume we got what we wanted for him. The chairman has repeatedly said we don't have to sell and won't do so unless prospective purchasers meet our valuations so the fee agreed must have been within our negotiation range.

Maybe the player has told us he wants to go?
If we sell him in January for half the amount the club would get criticised.

We could end up with 2.5 million which is good business.

It wasn’t long ago when a lot on here were slating the club for buying has beens.

Now we’re developing and selling were not getting enough.
Only 2 clubs are interested we have accepted the highest bid.
We could also end up with Ajayi forcing a move which could reduce the fee further.

Is this an undisclosed " undisclosed" transfer, still nothing on the club website or are they too embarrassed to tell us what a bad day at the office they've had.We are the laughing stock when it comes to negotiating deals.

The sale of Ajayi has obviously polarised opinions on here.

I'm with the "disappointed it's not more but ok with the deal" crowd.

What's he worth to potential buyers?
I'm sure all the clubs in the Championship were aware of what was happening. If we are giving him away at a bargain price why hasn't another club joined the bidding?

    What's he worth to us?
I suppose it depends on how far you buy into the "guaranteed promotion with him - no chance without" him scenario.
Of course we don't exactly know the details of the deal. Assuming the "add-ons" or at least some of them are based on realistically achievable targets we could be looking at it costing us £2million plus to keep him for one season. In that case it would cost us about £50,000 a match for his services.
Could that money be better utilised? In my opinion - yes
Will it be? - We'll have to wait and see.

Ultimately no, TS /RS and the finance Director have the final say.
Paul Douglas is a ‘ gopher’ for the club and has a remit to work to.
Paul Douglas does not negotiate and accept the final offer.

It’s a waste of time trying to explain he’s gone for more than they keep banging on about
