I am in a high risk group, wrong side of 60 dodgy ticker & COPD so it is worrying but you can only do so much & unless everyone plays their part (which aint going to happen) I will just get on with life & trust to luck. I don't buy into this idea that the youngsters aint bothered because it's mainly older people who die from it! there are enough young people at risk & the damage to business & the economy will affect us all. I do think that rather play games behind closed doors they could look at suspending the season & resuming when it's all over even if this means merging 2 seasons into 1.

I think young people as well realise that it could affect them economically if not medically plus as you say they may have family members who get it. I've had one older man coming into work today and say there's nothing to worry about etc it's just a bad flu and it's all nonsense when his mother is in a nursing bed and there's a good chance she'd die if she got it but didn't register with him at all except to complain his pension has gone down! If everyone was sensible then it might go away a lot quicker than it's going to do with people being so blaise about it.
Just watched the PM's press conference alongside two medical experts.
The main thing that stood out was that they are expecting the number of cases to replicate the growth seen in Italy, but not the response (ie lockdown).
They said they expect the number of cases to arrive at Italian levels (current Italian levels are approx 2500 new cases per day, hundreds of hospitalisations per day, 200 deaths per day) in around 4 weeks, and they expect the virus to reach its peak in around 3/4 months from now.
I can't help but wonder what that will mean for the NHS. If the Italian health service is struggling so badly that they've had to opt for full lockdown, and the UK is going to be there in 4 weeks but seems to be ruling out lockdown, what is the plan?
Are they going to use these four weeks to go on a shopping spree of hospital beds and respiratory equipment?
Are they ruling out lockdown as a confidence trick, while really fully intending to use it?
Are they just going to plough on as normal, come what may?
They were also insistent and repetitive about the washing of hands, but as far as I know (and admittedly I'm not an expert), transmission is more likely by breathing in the virus rather than catching it from infected surfaces.
I have just watched the Coronavirus Press Conference from Number 10, and was impressed by the way this very worrying subject is being dealt with. The Prime Minister set the scene, and the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Scientific Officer presented what appears to be a realistic and sensible approach to this very serious and worrying problem.
To some, it may seem to be a “stiff upper lip” approach, but from my perspective, I felt reassured that we have people in authority who we may have faith in.
Sadly, I won’t see 70 again, and like previous posters, have medical problems. However life must go on, and although it may prove to be misplaced, I continue to have faith in the people whose job it is to look after our welfare. After all, our forebears went through far worse than the problems we face today.
We all have a “duty of care” not only to look after ourselves, but also to do what is right for our society in general.
P.S. COYP.
I'm 57 with no health problems and I've always kept myself fit, plenty of dog walking and cycling does the trick these days. I'm confident of recovering if I do get the virus. My plan in the coming months is not only to look after my ederly mother and my wife's parents ,but to look in on and help in any way I can the ederly near to where I live. I see it as my duty and I know many others feel the same. The only downside I can see is I don't drink tea.

I work at a newspaper in Tel Aviv and we’ve just been told to work from home for the foreseeable future (same situation at many U.S. newspapers, I believe). Schools and universities here have just shut for a month, too. All being done to stop the virus spreading too quickly - social distancing.
A company over here reckons it has just cracked the vaccine for Covid-19, but it will still take ages for all of the clinical trials. Part of the thinking is to be over-the-top now, slow the spread, and then they’ll be in a better position to cope in six months’ time or a year.
Bizarre watching the Europa League games - Man U playing in front of 500 in Austria, no one at the Frankfurt-Basel game, but business as usual at the game in Turkey.
Only a matter of time before Premier League games are behind closed doors. Probably the same in the Championship. Lower league clubs could generally tell fans to spread out and not sit next to each other, but it’s still taking a small risk. And much as we all love Notts, everyone’s health must come first. I’ll put my faith in the experts.
