Surely he has to be off his nut to go back there?

This was the team who hounded him out so much that he left at the first reasonable opportunity to do so. since leaving they have inconsistent and erratic with Cathro, the levein stuff and now stendal. thats before you get to the Relegation/court case stuff. Id be disappointed if he would throw away something decent getting built here to go back to the madhouse and have to do exactly what he has done twice already.

With the championship playing less games this seasons aswell surely he'll be under more pressure to get them up. and if he doesnt start well he will be hounded out again like before.

I know many united fans arent overly bothered if he goes but he has brought back a positive feeling around the club (which big help from owners) yeah he isnt perfect but id still rather we didnt lose him when he's doing a decent enough job. Surely there is more to gain from staying at united than going back there!

for what its worth i dont want levein back which some people have suggested. CL is done as a manager.

Other than Shankland, he's welcome to any of the players he signed.

maybe Neilson thinks he found his level in the chumpionship? nae point keeping someone who lacks ambition and if he did go I’ll say a wee prayer hoping the tertz lose the court case and go bust to boot

This is terrible news and couldn't happen at a worse time, all the positives being derailed.. As we attempt to return to the prem, instability was the last thing we needed

Disappointing that Neilson would want to go off true given he has talked about building something here and everything else had been put in place to help him do that

Him and Ashgar having a good relationship makes it more surprising.

'all the positives derailed' - nonsense. Maybe we'll finally see some positivity on the pitch. Just shows everything you need to know about Neilson, good riddance.

lots of speculation going about just now but im hoping Neilson shows some sort of loyalty. New owners could have punted him as soon as they came in but didnt. They've then backed him very well. Got supposedly good relationships with Orgen and Ashgar. He's got something good going at united where the majority of fans are behind him. he will get backed well again as a PREMIERSHIP club. he can show ambition and show his worth as a manager instead of dropping down to a division hes already won twice. plus he was hounded out at hearts before.

This is a shocking time to lose a manager. preparations for next season have already begun and with the whole COVID causing everything to be up in the air. this is an unwelcomed distraction.

Tommy wright would be my choice whether he would be interested is another question with NI job still up for grabs
