Ok Millerbill, serious question and a proper answer from you. Put aside scaremongering for one moment.

As it stands there is no talk of us changing our VAT regulations.

So, when goods are imported into the UK, at what point is the impoter required to pay VAT on those goods? (Bare in mind we have left the EU and the regulation will apply to goods coming in from there.)

So you believe Gove is showing his hand now and truly believes we will be trading with the EU, in this way. I think you are taking his comments at face value and you're scaremongering. Only time will tell. I don't believe politics works this way, when we are in the middle of negotiations.

Our trade with the EU is significant. It's pointless making assumptions now. The only assumption I will make is they'll do a deal. We'll only get an idea of what deal, in the few weeks up to crunch time.

I'll come back to you then.

No not at all (Gove showing his hand) - and no, Im not making assumptions.

I believe Gove is preparing Britain for the reality of trading with the EU from our position outside the Customs Union and Single Market.

This is from the Government website...

"Prepare to import goods from the EU to Great Britain from 1st January 2021".

" From 1 January 2021, you'll need to make customs declarations when you import goods from the EU. These rules currently apply to importing goods from the rest of the world, including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

You can make the declarations yourself or hire someone else such as a courier, freight forwarder or customs agent."

"You need an EORI number that starts with GB to import goods from 1 January 2021."

"You need to pay customs duties and VAT on all imports.

Check the rate of customs duty on imports from 1 January 2021

    Check the rate of VAT"

The only snippet I’ll give yer Wan is that Vodafone have decided to list their new mast company IPO in Frankfurt instead of the city, perhaps hedging.

    Question

If you pay VAT when the goods enter the country and you charge VAT when selling the goods abroad or is that down to the importer again ?
For the goods you sell into the UK, is charged with VAT but the client claims that back and you pay the VAT for the whole product including the pieces you've already paid VAT on?

    Re: VAT:

It will impact cashflow of a lot of companies.

The government will do something about it. Once a deal or no-deal has been struck. I’ll wager there will be no duty on goods, we import into the UK.

A lot of other companies will be more vulnerable.

19 million visitors a year to Spain, from the UK.

That is logical to keep things on an even footing. But if the goods that leave the who
Eu overseas they are still liable to pay VAT so how will suppliers going to claim their VAT if the buyer doesn't pay from outside the EU?

    The UK government ?
