Is there anyone who actually comes from Rotherham on here?

By Rotherham, I dont mean the carrot crunchers who live in these Barnsley villages like Wath and Conisbro'?

Infact if you live in any village then you are definitely not from Rotherham

By Rotherham I will go on what the old history book said:

" If tha proper Rotherham, tha can run from yer house to Coopers toy shop, theer and back in 5 minutes'

( page 7 of a crap local history book)

    You are spot on.

    It's in Doncaster.

I will be honest all these places outside Rotherham, might as well be in Siberia for me.

I did get as far as Dinnington last year. Never liked Nottinghamshire though.

    Hear, hear.

Sounds like if/when we move back, Rotherham will be the safest place to live to avoid MMadsters, except IBS of course who is just a figment of his own imagination. Already two places on our list of possible locations have been mentioned on here so I'll cross those off now

IBS, I'm claiming 100% that I am a true Rotherham lad. Born in a house on Hartley Lane, Masbrough you can clearly see the magnificent
All Saints Rotherham Minster and would probably hear the bells ringing out on a clear Sunday morning.

Through the years I've lived in the suburbs of Herringthorpe, East Herringthorpe, Bramley, Eastwood, Sunnyside and finally where I reside, Brinsworth. Of the areas I have mentioned I clearly recall, as a child and t.eenager, how all the estates were nice, clean and a pleasure to live in and around. I've revisited in the past, all of them, and I have to say the likes of East Herringthorpe and Eastwood are like ghettos on some roads I know so well. What a sad decline this town has become.

I rarely visit the town centre now and on my last visit, it was very uncomfortable walking amongst the different variations of ethnicity hanging about on the street corners and congregating in groups spouting all kinds of foreign languages.

We as a town are just a dumpit site for all immigrants.

Could you run to Cooper's Toy Shop, from your house on Hartley Lane, the'er and back in 5 minutes? I think not.

I have heard you are carrying a bit of timber these days so even less likely now.

I assume Coopers is no more so what's the 2021 equivalent in case anyone wants to try it? 5 minute round trip would probably have allowed an 800 yard radius back in the day when we were all in our prime. That's probably down to a 250 yard radius these days, especially having to navigate around the homeless.

Think you're right there CAM. Back in my prime days I might just have made it before closing time.

I could run it in my car...as for timber yes I'm carrying more than I should be so can you think of a game plan for me to shed a few pounds? I thought of clearing the snow of the NYS playing surface but..........
