India 247 for 6, Root still going with Bess, Stokes and Leach, surely Anderson/Archer should be looking to get them out, even the ex players/commentators think so

Root will be playing for time to get the new ball for Anderson and Archer.

I would have thought Root would not inforce the follow on and add a few more runs before making India bat again on a more dicey pitch, being able to rest Archer/Anderson, 2 days left I know but look at the partnership of these last 2, plus the earlier one from Pant and Pujara of 119, IMO the yarkie should be going for the throat, something Root has the habit of not doing BT

Not Root’s best day. We let India recover from 73-4. Leach was expensive and Root wasted two reviews off his bowling. Was the old ball not going to reverse swing? Might have been worth another spell from Jimmy. We are still in the box seat however. We need to pick up those remaining four wickets asap and ignore imposing the follow-on if that is an option.

I love Test Match cricket Alto me and my grandad spent many a day at Old Trafford back in the day. The ebbs and flows, the individual battles and what I find always amusing is the number of "experts" who will always disagree with the England captain, whoever he is and whatever he does.

I think the same "experts" know how to assume to tell Sean Dyche he is wrong too.

England batted on and finished 178 all out which IMO was pointless.

So India needing 420 to win and England needing all their Wickets ended the day on 39 for 1 wanting another 381.

Set up nicely for tomorrow though Alto.
