Thread: Met police killer

  1. #31
You're right of course Mick and Sarah's parents publicly wanted none of this, these people have hijacked a situation & wholly disrespected the poor girl's memory. There is one difference in this vs the Diana case and that is the personal safety of women when they are alone outside of their home which of course resonates with most of them. They wanted to stand in solidarity for Sarah and there's nothing wrong in that, the problem is that the agitators turn up to further their own ends.

Well said. Why the hell do people think they have the right to protest when it has been not allowed at the moment. Doesn’t matter if it is BLM, attacks on women or indeed football supporters celebrating outside grounds. There is a pandemic going on at the moment for goodness sakes.

And by the way when did it become safe to walk home in a big city on your own in the dark, especially over common ground. I never did it in the late 60s early 70s as a 20 year old male, let alone a woman. Did I miss the announcement because in my lifetime it has never been totally safe no matter what gender you are!

Capital punishment, whilst I agree that there will be the odd case of injustice it will also act as a deterrent. So from a numbers perspective the drop in serious crimes should overall result in fewer cases. You could also limit the potential for miscarriage of justice by setting a time limit of 5 years or so whereby any new evidence materialising can be submitted.
Generally countries who have a harsh attitude to crime and punishment have much lower crime rates.
Personally I would accept the loss of a few individuals if overall the safety of the general population was greatly improved.
I would suggest that the current soring knife crime epidemic would be fixed overnight.
Cowardly low life would not be as brave

Capital punishment doesn’t deter a Ted Bundy or John Wayne Gacey type serial killer.

I think that premeditated murder should carry a whole life sentence without the possibility of parole.

If you carry a knife or a gun to what ends up as a murder then that’s you done.

If you’re caught in possession of a knife or weapon in public it should be a mandatory 20 year sentence with no time allowed off.

I have no problem with building 100 new prisons and getting them manned.

Capital punishment simply does not work, it isn’t a deterrent and costs the taxpayers an absolute fortune in legal fees etc. Life should mean life and as as Mick has said above possession of a deadly weapon should be an automatically long sentence.

We may not all agree on capital punishment but I think many agree that we are far too lenient with our punishment. The pendulum needs to swing further over to the punishment side.

Prisons should be a place that even pigs turn their noses up. No heating - no blankets - no games and slop for food. Murderers are not human beings so make prisons like pig swills. As they are - they are warmer and serve nicer food than most of our elderly can afford.

That may well be true Al but would you want to stay there for a very long time with the worst people in society that you cannot avoid by walking in the opposite direction. Part of me thinks that moreso is the punishment, must be a right head-f$$k.

Legislation is being progressed to ban protests by the way folks, democracy and freedoms being eroded in front of our eyes when all of that was unthinkable a year and a bit ago.

I’m not an anti vaxxer or believe some of these crazy conspiracy theories but the point about our democracy being taken away is a serious one, i tried to make this point in another thread. I’ve always felt whenever something big happens in the news, some new law that is being proposed our lawmakers capitalise on it and it’s easier when it’s a hot topic. So while we are slating all these protesters, we need really see the bigger picture of what is going on.

Laws are being made and the pandemic is being used to justify it.

What ever happened to the bank holiday protests?

The situation stinks and like i’ve said before, we’re heading towards a corrupt nation. I’ve said before, all MPs should be back in parliament asap. One thing the french do right is they go out an protest a lot better than us. This pandemic is being used to condition us.

I wouldn't be using the French as a model of how to run a country. I wouldn't put Macron in charge of a dog's home!
