Spot on. Rashford hasn't (to my knowledge) claimed to support any political party, he's just used his high profile to highlight what a callous and uncaring government we are currently being ruled by. The result was that he forced that government into a humiliating U-turn.

Do any of the Tory boys on here think that Rashford was wrong?

Look at alcohol, tobacco, gambling, phones, drugs etc. Poor people wont get help in those areas, , in fact they wont think they have a problem. They have a sense of entitlement.

Its the governments fault, i want more money. Money wont help a serious personality disorder, alcoholism, narcissism, or any number of problems, lets face it, low intelligence., and immaturity. More money will just fuel the problem. What is needed is a social service that is a parent, a guidance, but doesnt appear to be so. This includes money management, services for addictions, and the ability to run peoples lives if they cant themselves. Which automatically includes children suffering at the hands of an inadequate parent.

I know this is going to enrage some, but i have seen it after 35 years in the NHS. If you want to become a tory, work for the NHS. Now let me see, what will i be called now......
My wife worked 38 years in the NHS and didn’t become a Tory.

I don't see it as getting involved in politics so much as trying to give back to where he came from at its roots which is a noble cause. I believe he would have had the same opinion and fought the same fight regardless of who was in power. Politics on the other hand seems to want to use sport and in particular football currently to try and score a few cheap points. The recent racism fur rough is a typical example where the current executive has been made to look somewhat stupid by saying one thing and then flipping as required to appeal to public opinion. I don't think there is much more to it than that.
Queenie, there is Politics and there is Party Politics. Rashford is part of the former, but wisely staying out of the latter.

Well yes you are correct there is but this is not about politics its about what's right. I like to think there is a distinction but we can beg to differ. Cheers and hope you are well, QP.

I would loosely classify myself as a Tory eLite. It goes without saying that Rashford isn't wrong. He used his status to effect change for the better. It's a shame it had to come to that. This isn't a point scoring exercise though so lets keep political lines out of it. It's really not relevant at all.

Surely if we’ve learnt anything over the last 18 months or so, politics is all about doing what’s right? Just because he doesn’t wear a rosette, it doesn’t mean that Rashford’s campaign isn’t political.

I’m still surprised that so many people seem to treat politics like football, and that they have their ‘team’ no matter what happens, or how obviously incompetent or awful their team is.

The shame was on an uncaring government. The situation didn't come about by accident.

On a thread titled 'Football & Politics', how can you keep political lines out of it?

I voted for the current government because I believed and still do that it was the best option for me available on the ballot paper.

I don’t follow a party like a football team but as you always post very balanced views on politics which competent party did you chose to vote for from the ballot paper options?

Why, and what would make you change your mind?

For me to vote labour i would need to have my brain removed, fried, fricasseed, bathed over night in sulphuric acid, stabbed with knives, pummeled by steam hammers, pulled apart by horses attached to either end that had been whipped, then run over by trucks. Probably.

What would persuade me is to listen to Gordon Brown, Jerm Corbyn, or any socialist talking. Just to get them to shut up.

    Sorry couldnt resist.
