In with you Sid. Laddo mentioned that Jack was too good for Villa, but what chance do these clubs ever have when the rich vampires suck their best talent out of them? Any young player who does well outside the top 5 clubs is lured away. It is very sad.

Something needs to be done before the competition is dead.

Agreed. It used to be that any fan of any club could semi-realistically dream that with the right manager and group and a reasonably well-off owner they could make it to the top. No longer.

This isn’t a case of disloyalty, or moving for money in my mind. Any professional worth their salt would make exactly the same decision for ambition and wanting to better themselves, absolutely nothing at all wrong with that. He is wanting to test himself at the very highest level and cement himself in the England team, both things he’d unlikely be able to do whilst at Villa.

This isn’t a case of Paul Mullins dropping two divisions to get a massive pay rise, just an instance of a great player wanting to prove himself. And great players get paid the most money, like in any walk of life.
    This.

Anyone who thinks this is just about money is in cloud cuckoo land.
Grealish wants Champions League football. He wants to be at the top table mixing it with the big boys. Testing himself against some of the best teams in world football.
His release clause isn’t as simple as 100m and I want gone. It was if a Champions League club came in with 100m bid and Villa were not in the Champions League it triggered the clause.

What do you suggest KC? What's the solution?

It's your opinion, it became everyone's business on here as soon as you posted it

So you wanted Jack to stay at Villa until he retires in say 8-10 years time? What a waste of a special talent.

Remember Sidney he's done nothing wrong

It's becoming (almost) a closed shop with huge money like the NBA, NFL and MLB.

It is what it is, it's where it was already going once Sky got involved. Its soo distant to Notts and many clubs that I almost view it as a different sport, well at least a different competition we will never get to have a go at.

But at least in America, the draft system gives teams a chance of securing top quality talent which keeps things competitive. I'm not suggesting that would work here, but a salary cap would help.

The amounts of money involved are obscene. I just hate the fact that many of the working class fans of these teams are now priced out of attending. Even worse, many are surviving by using food banks or struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile Man City spend 100 million on a bench warmer. It's slightly OT but the Premier League is so far removed from reality and the fans that it serves. I don't want any part of it

I love the draft system, I love NFL draft night it's awesome but agree it wouldn't work here.

Salary cap is a better option but that won't go down well with the owners who like in the NFL hold (almost) all the cards.

Agree the money involved is obscene and has been for some time. However the universal resistance shown to the ESL was a fantastic kick in the nuts to all those mega rich owners who thought they could make it a closed money shop.

Another sweeping statement littered with Bull ****. Yes there is a ton of money in the 3 American sports you mentioned BUT in the last 20 years their have been
    - 11 different winners of the NBA
    - 13 different winners of the Super Bowl
    - 14 different winners of the ‘World Series’

So not sure how those US sports has ‘almost’ become a closed shop?
