Ooft, more than half his goals scored against the bottom five. That’s the kind of stuff (and my penalty thing) that we’re going to be looking at and would stop us even thinking about dropping big money on him.

Just as a matter of interest, Jacob, did we drop any money out for Taylor and Big Kairo? Any idea?

As others have said before, at least all these ‘big’ signings by other clubs are taking the expectations away from Notts now. I imagine. Stockport, Chesterfield and Wrexham will be under a lot of pressure to perform now with teams like Notts, Torquay, Yeovil, Grimsby, Southend etc in the next tier of teams.

I just fancy Chesterfield now, good manager, good squad, and top players such as Asante, Tshimanga, Miller, plus all the others they signed. I think they’ll win comfortably actually.

The problem is there’s always going to pressure for Notts in this league as we’re probably seen by many as the biggest club.
Doesn’t sit well for me with Chesterfield, furloughing players and then signing decent players last season and this one. Nice to see though people not criticising our owners for not overspending but it feels it’s come to something when we probably only have the 4th or 5th best budget in this league.

Yeah but he scored those playing for Boreham Wood...who finished 14th. Tshimanga has been a standout striker in none league for a few seasons now and has scored a lot of goals for poor teams. He is also only 24...one year older than Mitchell I think it's a great signing for Chesterfield that will cause real excitement amongst their fans.

His only other decent season was for Oxford City in regional football, pretty much the calibre of teams he scored against.

If you want to go up, you want to score against the likes of Stockport and Wrexham because those are the games that will win you promotion. If you are dropping £150k on a striker to score against Weymouth then you have more money than sense

No I'm not, I'm simply saying that we have struggled against the lesser teams. I don't see him scoring against the bottom 5 clubs as a negative.

Bearing in mind we dropped allegedly over £300k on Hemmings and Dennis in league 2, if he was really a barnstormer of a striker, a league club would have taken a gamble no?

I wouldn't be surprised if we aren't in title contention this season, but if we're not I would bet a lot of money that it isn't because we don't score enough goals.

Yeah, both undisclosed. Chesterfield were reported as paying £15k for Taylor and £20k for Mitchell in their local press at the time, and I would guess it's probably pretty much a recoup their money job.
