What's obvious from her interview is that this isn't unbelievable to her. You can see in her body language on court and her choice of words in victory that she is super confident. It would be ridiculous to say she expected it, but she doesn't look surprised. A champion's mindset.

It seems really odd that two months ago she was knocked out at the Nottingham Open in the first round and looked absolutely nothing special.

if you’ve never been to the Nottingham Open it’s a great day out with amazing world class sport, well recommended.

I try to get a couple of days in a year and couldn't agree more. A fantastic day out and good value for money

Apologies if I missed something but I've not seen anything to suggest that Emma Raducanu's parents were illegal immigrants into Britain, and she's lived here since the age of two, and she started playing tennis from the age of five. On that basis she's perfectly entitled to be regarded and indeed celebrated as a British tennis player, and I dare say a fair few Romanians, Chinese and (maybe) Canadians are proud of her too.
