Good day on saturday , the best thing is we delivered on a big occasion in front of a big crowd , an essential thing going forward if we are to gain promotion, as ther will be more big days and big games

But we were not tested on saturday, it just ran our way, solihull should have levelled around 80 mins through rooney, who according to stallard missed a sitter, and did not have his striker boots on
The question then is would notts have crumbled under the pressure late on, like they have on a number of other occasions, future matches will answer this question ??

The side is still not as good as Ardley,s side before the covid curtialed the season , but shows promise.
Looks like Ardley had his rose tinted spectacles on at the weekend aswell. In his post match interview even he agreed the better team won and there wasn't even a mention of uncut grass.

Quite right laddo, but i did offer some praises on the performance, which surprise surprise were not commented on

The posts suggesting they had half chances , and we were well on top, well even stallard did not see it that way, he said rooney missed a sitter, he did not have his strikers boots on , nothing to do with our superior so called manager tactics then its 1-1 with 10 minutes to go - how would notts have handled the pressure, none of the rose tinted brigade will answer?

Bottom line, Notts won fair and square and we're easily the better team in every department
Their opportunities were half chances at best.

Reducing the opposition to half chances is The best you can hope for in a 90 minute game
We weren't tested due to our managers tactics and our teams overall quality
Solihull had 7 clean sheets in their last 8 games, not an easy team to break down
It's not rose tinted glasses at all
And find it hard to believe that anyone who watches Notts would agree
It's called enjoying the moment and having a positive outlook, which for a Notts fan, has been hard to do for the past 30 years
Some of them were not half chances, especially Rooney, he should have scored, nothing to do with ib,s superior tactics

Enjoying the moment yes, but there has been many times in the last 30 years where i have enjoyed the moment far better, and we have been far better, get a grip on our level ,and the true importance of this game ie nothing, i could agree with your optism if we had been promoted
Saying this is the best in 30 years your deluded , rose tinted spectacles at its berst

    That's it? That's your response?!

I wish I'd not invited you to respond . I didn't think you were going to double down on your earlier post. What's the opposite of rose tinted?

Do you think Solihull were fortunate when we hit the post not once but twice in the first half with the Keeper nowhere near it both times?

We don't know how Notts would have responded in your hypothetical scenario of 1-1 with 10 mins to go. Just as we don't know whether we would have scored 4 or 5 that day if both PVO Vinny and Rùben's 1st half efforts had both gone in.

Nobody can answer either with any certainty.

All we do know is we won, we deserved to win, and we played well. That's all you ever ask for in the past and then when it happens you aren't happy and try a dig out a negative with a hypothetical scenario.

It was a good chance, but certainly wasn’t a sitter….I assume you mean the chance where it came to him outside the box and he put it wide?

Just a couple of points I think should be considered.

    1. The argument regarding them scoring to make it 1-1 is just too subjective. It's like saying if Ruben and Vincent's chances had gone in instead of hitting the woodwork we would have gone in at half time with a comfortable lead. Rooney "chance" would have had less impact had he scored from it.

    2. This "chance" wasn't a sitter. The experts who have data that looks back at thousands of historical chances that are similar to the one Rooney had suggests a goal is likely to be scored 14 out of 100 attempts. If you can access the highlights on PiesPlayer you will see that the reason he didn't make more of that chance was because of some very good defending from a dangerous set piece. Rooney was never going to be given more than a half chance based on the defending. Again, that's down to the addition of Alex Clapham to the coaching team who it is clear to see has made improvements in our attacking and defending of set pieces.

I might just add as well that the only "good" chance Solihull had was after we had gone 2-0 up and Sbarra couldn't make a good connection on a header from 6 yards out.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but it helps to put some perspective on them from time to time.

This. We won and could have been four or five. I'm all for criticism when it's warranted but at the moment we look good and are playing well for our level. About time credit was given. The other team are always going to get the odd chance, even Chelsea and Liverpool give away goals. Davy 500 you're starting to sound deluded.

It seems to me from Davy500's last post he doesn't rate IB. It is a shame he doesn't know he is our 'Head Coach' not 'Manager'.
