    Alright Brin,

Doubt very much he would have meant they didn't want to mix with others but more down to its what us english do after a game like sink a few pints and chew the fat after a game.

Don't think he was intending to be racist or cause offence..more of an observation?

Hi Mygiddypant, Just as a matter of interest, do you find the MOBO awards as racist? or the the "exclusive" association of black police officers racist? along with the association of black fire fighters racist?

I have family in both the police force and fire service who think that both are institutionally racist against white fellow officers.

And every police officer that’s fast tracked to fit ethnic quotas is indirectly being racist towards the more capable officers that don’t have the required ethnic profile

Ditto the presenters and journalists on TV news

The Black Police Officers Association is certainly not exclusive. I was a member for a couple of years and am neither black nor a police officer. I joined up via a friend in the local police force. She was a police officer, but was also white. The long and the short of it was that they used to put on cracking social nights.

Thanks for that KerrAvon, i was always under the impression it was exclusive, I for one am glad to learn it isnt as i always thought exclusive clubs dont help. I cant understand why we cant all just get along! at the end of the day we are all human beings and racism is damaging and hurtful.

In today’s world yes, you can’t seem to say anything or even look at people without being offensive to someone

It's ironic that people are up in arms about this 'banter' when the Asian community were never called out when young girls were being groomed by mostly their own. And please let's not pretend that we all love each other - I think each community, by and large, dislikes the other, but of course you can't say that nowaydays can you.

Bit puzzled as to why it's called the BPOA then Kerr if most people are welcome
Perhaps it was originally set up because they felt there was discrimination and once established they could expel undesirables
Perhaps it would be better to change it's name now. The Raucous Night Out Association or similar

twitch44 welcome onboard. It doesn't matter what walk of life you are in you will always get 'banter' as you call it. Today though is a new generation trying to do something about over the top offensive remarks.

You probably have a point, to a degree I may add though, that ''each community by and large, dislikes the other, but of course you can't say that nowaydays can you.'' I would like to bet that every single person who posts on here has heard and passed on 'banter' but, on reflection of which way we are trying to drive this out, they may have some regrets of having done so in the past.

Just to stand and listen to share and laugh at undertones of racism makes anyone just has guilty as the person saying them but, you do nothing about it because that is life and words will be spoken. If the world thinks it will rid itself of everything racist then it won't.
What we have to try and understand is that the world is changing and attitudes have to change but, it cuts both ways and until people/races get their own house in order, like you mention on your post, then things will never change.

Too many do gooders are now making a living out of all of this now and it's fast becoming a United States mentality of sue for anything 10, 20, 30 years down the line. Yes it's wrong what has come out of Yorkshire CC but they won't be the last as this was probably the scab covering the wound. Next we'll have failed footballers who didn't make the grade looking to sue because someone pissed up their back in the showers.
