If you've all forgotten that's the 3rd tier of English football, a decent standard, I've watched several matches at Burton and Lincoln in that division this season and will do so again next year. I remember fans moaning about Keith Curle when Notts were in League One really knocking on the door for promotion and then it all fizzled away it makes me sick, I really do struggle to believe it's the same club. When I have to visit other towns/cities and I get chatting about football telling them I used to watch Notts they all ask the same question "what on earth has happened to that football club". Can anyone on here honestly say convincingly that Notts will ever play in the League again. I honestly thought the club was finished when they dropped out the league and I've been astonished by the attendances most higher than the League One days although I do think the Covid break has helped with that but say in 3/5 years time do people still think that 6/7000 people are gonna turn out to watch non league football.
Luton were down here for quite a while, Lincoln even longer. Tranmere were another team that always failed down here in the playoffs. Lincoln were 90 mins away from the championship last year. Luton this year we're in the playoffs to get to the premier league.

Teams who rebounded quickly seem to yoyo, look at Grimsby, Cheltenham have yoyo'd, Barnet certainly have. We need a tweak, not major surgery

Most clubs have great years (some don't), most clubs have bad years (very few don't). There are more than enough examples I could list off the top of my head to say you can't predict what will or won't happen in the long term. Boom to bust back to boom. It happens

I can remember the long-serving tannoy announcer (Roger Hill?) barely able to speak the words 'We hope to see you again at the next game'.
Pretty much what I said before. If you continually concentrate on our lowest points, you can make where we are now almost acceptable.

I don't expect miracles, but I don't want to sink that low.

Tweaking is not likely to be currently on the cards. IB to leave for FGR, Wootton gone, Brindley gone, Rodders and Roberts sold, Sam released, DKE released…

major surgery is my best bet.

Unless we got lucky all season?!?! The main complaint was not taking our chances, rather than not creating them as suggested above.

    Hmmmmm.
The goals conceded column over the course of the season would suggest otherwise.

Could we not do with a bit of a shake up? It’s three play-off defeats in a row for quite a lot of this team and, for whatever reason, they don’t seem to have it in them collectively to get it over the line in the big games.

We’re obviously not miles off and, if Wrexham can do the business as we now have to hope, top spot might be a bit more open next year, so we don’t need a huge overhaul, but I think a bit of a shake up would be a good thing even if it means seeing a few good players and decent servants to the club move on.

I don't know what lessons have been learned, but players need to learn not to touch players when defending from behind, when you are one nil up with seconds to play.
We need to learn that we need wheels of steel, that can also win headers in the middle of the park. This would take so much pressure off our defence.
We need to learn to take our chances too, as there have been plenty gone begging.
Oh and if we could defend set pieces I think we could well get out of this division.
