A bit like phoning Praise or Grumble and telling them you’re a Rotherham fan
Deano the ex mod on here for one after the morecombe away game when we lost 5-0….they cut off the full interview and left the bit that actually became incendiary…

Yet a couple of days ago on Politics Live they were vox popping folks in Wakefield and had folks on there saying Boris was doing a good job etc. How could that have happened?!

They've made a cracking job of the town centre , absolutely fantastic what they've done .

A real sense of pride when you walk in town these days .

I initially thought it was a huge gamble , what with Meadowhall , Leeds and internet shopping but it's paid off with the Town centre vibrant and busy .

I live equidistant between Barnsley and Rotherham, I go to Barnsley centre reasonably regularly, Rotherham centre hardly ever.

Both towns have Labour councils, so what’s going wrong in Rotherham?

    Not prepared to gamble?

I know the council received investment from a body called Leeds City Region Growth Deal as well as putting in £47m themselves .

I don't know Grist and it's sad to see places like Wakefield and Huddersfield city and town centres on their ass too .

There were also huge queues outside Pawn Brokers on corner, again mainly Roma, on top of that town was full of beggars and gangs of young adults looking for opportunities ? working the streets, using mobiles to inform each other, it really was horrible with lots and lots of very poor people on Effingham St !! No sign of any police or council officials to keep order, it was like a lawless society ? Dodge (y) City springs to mind !
The council invited all this lot to our town, provided accommodation and now it's their town.Nobody wants to come in the town centre.I feel sorry for the genuine shopkeepers who stayed as long as possible,it's dead and gone now.

Modern day poverty.......Aaron says he finds food in the bins, but this money will help him to get his phone back from the Pawn shop........................here lies the problem. Maybe teach them how to budget, after all we are a welfare state.

At least the tills will be up in the Plough, County and Angel..............

I know mate, it's a rough rough place. Probably about 2 years since I was last in the town centre and it was awful then, I suppose its even worse now. Its not dye in the wool Rotherham folk that's caused this though is it? The town now is more like a holding pen for every wrong un from Eastern Europe/Asia/Africa etc etc, blame Blair for that, he sold this country down the river!!!

I've lived in Barnsley for 5 years now and I echo what people have said about the regeneration of the town centre, its lovely. However don't be fooled, there's plenty of low lifes frequent the place!!! I've never known a place with so many legless beggars, no doubt caused by years of injecting crap into their veins, their certainly not veterans of conflict, that's for sure.

I'm gutted with what's happened to my home town but I'll always love it, it will always be home in my heart!!!

Barnsley are only correcting the mistake they made in the 60s or 70s when they knocked down all the nice old buildings and put up a load of horrible concrete brutalist monstrosities.

Rotherham Council have improved the High Street and they're finally doing something about Westgate. But apart from the football there's no real reason to go into he town centre.

Not just Blair but it's the cheap housing, you don't have the same problems in areas with expensive housing.
